Russell Fork River Basin Area, KY Pict. - Turner Publishing
PREFACE
This undertaking of a pictorial history of the Elkhorn City Area and the Russell Fork River Basin is our first entrance into the many places and people that lived, loved and left their legacy along the crashing water of the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy. We have many pictures submitted by various people and we are indebted to them.
We know that we have not covered every occurrence in the area of the Russell Fork River Basin. Other works may cover areas and families we have not been able to cover in this book. However, we feel we have captured the essence of the Russell Fork and its communities.
In this book you will find the famous and the infamous, all contributing to the history we love so dearly and to our rich heritage.
Many people have contributed to this labor of love. We received more pictures than we placed in the book, but we will use them all in some way. We appreciate each and every picture and we will keep each one in our archives at the Heritage Council. Thanks go to the following members of the Elkhorn City Area Heritage Council, Inc. who have worked so diligently to bring us to our goal of finishing this book. Emalene Lee, Debbie Coleman, Neil Potter, Wendell Ward, Nick Marinaro, Nina Aragon and Patricia Belcher and all the others who helped in any way, especially those who brought pictures.
We also appreciate the patience you have shown us with the delays in preparation. We did not realize the amount of work involved. We thank everyone who purchased a book and we know you will enjoy it and learn more of our rich heritage and history.
Thanks to all,
