On the issue of tithing, it’s a thing of the mind. You cannot give what you don’t have. God understands your needs and conditions. He knows that if you have the means you will give with sincere heart. It might not necessary be money. Whatever good items you have, you give to God, and of course you know that you don’t need to go to heaven to give God what you have. Thousands of people are living around you, who don’t have what to eat, wear or where to live. You can reach out to such people and be a blessing to them.
CHAPTER ONE: DON'T WORRY!
Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it takes you no where. It's indeed a worthless consumer of time, energy and emotions since it keeps us but produces nothing constructive or positive. It only creates anxiety, fear of action, loneliness, dissatisfaction and much more. It can take a strong hold of us and makes us immobile and unable to act or express ourselves.
Worry seems to be one thing that is emotionally attached to our lives, sometimes we find it difficult to let go if it. We fail to realize that the longer it stays in us the more it does more harm to our spiritual, psychological and physical life.
When we are in terrible situations we find it so hard to remember that God has a purpose for allowing such situations to happen to us. All we do is to worry, and continue to worry for nothing, yet we get nothing good out of it.
THE TEN 'D'S' OF WORRY
It may interest you to know that worry can put you in ten deadly situations you may not understand. These ten D's of worry can trick you to an early grave. These are;
Distortion; If you give time and attention to worry, it will surely distort your thinking. Worry changes or twists your mind. You become unstable (James1:8) in decisions taking. Whatever comes out of your mind tends to be incorrect, false and unacceptable by you and people around you. But if you know the God you serve, worrying about your situations becomes unthinkable in your life.
Disruption; It disrupts your work for Christ. It makes you lose focus in the work of God and gradually takes you away from God. Ones your work for God is disrupted, you see every service rendered in the house of God as a burden. Your mind becomes agitated with excuses and false proves for not praying, reading your bible and helping others strengthening their faith in God. Don't allow the situation of today to defeat the invisible attributes of God in you. God never made a mistake to create you (Romans 1:20). When you have challenges in your faith go back to the Word of God.
Dis-quietness; Worry steals your happiness. As long as you keep on worrying about money, health or marriage you can never be happy. Happiness comes from the right state of mind in the absence of worries. Worry disquiets everything you have labored for. It gives you a burden of pains and regret in your everyday life. When it goes through your mind, it eludes you the knowledge of tackling the situations with prayers. The more you subject yourself to worry, the more it keeps joy away from you and opens your mind to making evil decisions.
Disturbance; When you allow your mind to be upset by your prevalent predicaments you become a tool in the hand of uncertainty and unbelief. Nothing looks real to you because your mind is disturbed by things you can control with the word of God. When you disturb your mind with worries, your good health which, suppose to be your source of wealth becomes an illusion. And once your wealth is not achieved you become a shadow of your old self giving people reasons to say negative things about you.
Dis-figuration; After a long while of troubling your mind with worries, go back to your mirror and see how you look. You may be amazed to see that your face has been disfigured. Configure your mind with the word of God and you would see that your physical body is nurtured with strength and willingness to pray.
Worry is a painful pointer that directs your mind to disfigure your appearance. And once your physical appearance is hampered by your emotions it unavoidably give way to sickness to weaken your strength and increase more worries that you should have avoided from the very beginning.
Destruction; Worry destroys your poise. Your calm mind and confidence of actions become thwarted and weak. Your self-esteem and personality seem to prove you wrongly. You begin to wonder if it actually happens to you. The more you see yourself on the floor, the more you lose confidence in the power of God to see you through your situations. Don't allow anything to destroy your happiness and joy in serving God.
Depression; When worry takes hold of you, you may think that somebody or enemy is depressing you. Nobody is after you, but you do it to yourself. When you allow worry to take away the greater part of you, life becomes unbearable and uninteresting to you.
Demoralization; It may interest you to know that worry is an element that makes a believer to lose hope in running a normal Christian race. It makes you lose confidence in your ability. Don't allow your God-given grace in you to be a weapon of worry to destroy your spiritual life.
Defeat; As a believer, you need to know that your faith must be tested in the face
