Feeling like a flower,
Who has wilted in the cold.
My pedals would easily
Snap and break upon human contact,
And my jagged pedals lay
Severed in your hand.
As the rest of my body waits
For certain destruction—
Serving no other purpose
But the carnage you feel
Because the cold weather has
Driven you mad.
Feeling like nothing I could have
Said or done would have prevented your
Hasty decision, but it is gone.
All the love that we once felt
Has circulated out the room,
Letting all the warm air escape
And leaving my lungs to gasp
In the horror that is this desolation.

The hands swell at the first sign
Of having something wrong in your tongue.
The signs of the solar system,
Leading us all astray.
I certainly couldn't have known
That people should be looking our way
To add an extra day to create the burden
My cheeks burn with pride.
As soon as the dogs are released
From my chamber, noses set
To find out where all the starts are.
Hiding, not wanting to touch
Someone like me, especially on this
Day of days,
When I got another headache
From staring nonstop at the screen.
Where were you eight years ago,
Hiding behind some ancient lie?
There are some people now who
Will never know until I told them
To leave, and they got their heads blown off.
And, all the twinkling in my eye
Is reduced to ash until no more.
Of the villagers can see—
That only animals can steer them right.
They would if they could, you know,
But they do not have the fine sense
That allows their noses to lead us out.
Ich bahn, I smell a traitor,
As the metallic taste of water
Melts in my mouth,
And strands of hair
Get in my way
And nearly choke me
While I bide my time
In wishing that all the stars
Will get back in line soon.
And, on the other side of town,
Someone is crying for their savior.
That cannot be found in the
Solar system alone, unless,
Through grinding teeth, they learned
To hate anything that questions
Their well-being, content to know
That the feelings still reside in my heart
As I twist the ring on my finger,
Back and forth to fall out of our slump
As the stars run us down.

This place I hang around—
It will be the death of me yet.
Going through twisted trees,
Feet sinking into the mud.
That part will be over,
But, oh, the onslaught
Will follow me around like a red tide
To make sure that I am never satisfied
With what happens to come
Because they want to keep me
Anchored here—
Where I choke on the mold and
Darkness that is spread to my corner,
Never allowing my poor light to
Shine through.
Like an undeliverable message,
Never to get the word out
And live that life
That I thought was supposed
To come with the territory.
These words slip through my fingers
As soon as they have fallen
Out of my mind.
I did not think that I would
Suffer from any pride.
But I must admit that it shall
Come to me in doses if I am
Ever to let my feet free of the
Earth's clay because this animal
Should be free to wander
To its wanted destination.
Time stands still for no one
Because this is given
To different times of the night.
