Tell me why I have to sit at the back of the church or find a seat wherever I can at the banquets, meetings or conferences. I used to have reserved seating. I used to get escorted to my seat. I sat at the Preacher’s Wife’s table or guest minister’s table. I got flowers pinned on me at every occasion. Bouquets were put on my table. I got a dozen roses or mixed flowers; orchids were my favorite.
I was given a special day. People brought presents, suits and gave me money. I had a chair decorated that I sat in for the service. I even had my own parking spot reserved for the First Lady
. What happened to all that? You mean, now that I no longer have this man on my arm, all this has been taken away from me? You mean to tell me, since we’re divorced, separated or widowed, I don’t count anymore? You mean, because I no longer wanted to be physically, mentally and verbally abused, no longer wanted to deal with the extra marital affairs and forget the lack of emotion towards me, I now lose my seat
