What Mindfulness Really Is & What It Means
Mindfulness is actually a mindset that allows you to be constantly mindful of what you are doing, but when people commonly refer to mindfulness they are usually referring to mediation techniques that help you to live in the moment. Mindfulness mediation is a combination of techniques that helps to improve your general health mentally, emotionally, physically and even spiritually. It helps you to ground yourself, understand yourself, and balance out the negative energy in your life.
Why should you live with mindfulness in mind?
Many people go through life without understanding what they’re doing or even why they’re doing it. It is important that you understand this lifestyle technique so that you can live in the present. Most people live their entire lives focused on the future or fixated on the past. So many people never live in the present, which cuts down their enjoyment in life. It is easier to enjoy every moment, including the small things that happen in that moment to contribute to your happiness, if you are constantly being mindful.
What are some of the benefits of living like this?
There are many benefits to mindfulness and practicing the techniques that come with it, which you’ll learn in this book. One of the main benefits is that it can help you reach a more stable state of being. If you are more stable, you’re more likely to be calm. Staying calm is going to help you to process everything that is going on around you in the physical world as well as what is going on in your own head.
This will lead to gaining self-knowledge, boosting your immune system, reaching emotional stability and so much more. From sleeping to starting your day, there is a technique that can help you. From mindfulness of emotions to mindfulness of physical sensation, these techniques only take a few minutes, and the benefits far outweigh the time that you lose.
What is the best mindfulness technique to start with?
The best technique to master first is mindfulness of breathing, and that’s because it is the best way to balance yourself with this method of meditation quickly and effectively. Of course, it is also the technique that is going to feed into all other techniques. Most of these techniques start with mindfulness of breathing because it is your go-to technique to center yourself and block out the external world.
To practice mindfulness of breathing, you need to start by sitting down somewhere where you won’t be distracted. Next, make sure that you are comfortable and close your eyes. It is usually best if the room is dark. Your breathing is going to be your object of concentration, so start by breathing in through your nose slowly.
With mindfulness of breathing you won’t be following the path of your breath all the way to your lungs, but instead you are going to make sure that you concentrate on what it feels to take a breath in through your nose. Concentrate on how it feels in your nostrils, how it feels for your chest to expand without following the breath. Then, take note of how it feels for that breath to leave your body
