Giorgio Scarlatti (October 2, 1921-July 26, 1990) was a rising star among sports car racers in the mid-1950s. A dependable driver he achieved respectable results in many difficult races he entered. His record helped him earn a factory ride with the Maserati team for 1957. His finishes were strong but Maserati opted to pull out of racing at the end of the season. Scarlatti was left to race independently, on his own.

Born in Rome, Italy on October 2, 1921 the future Italian driver was about nineteen when World War II began. Following the war’s end Scarlatti entered a Cisitalia in the 1950 Coppa della Toscana. It was one of Giorgio’s first races.
