Sincerely Yours - Jason Davis
It’s been a long road writing Sincerely Yours…
The multiple writing sessions, editing sessions and re-writing sessions have led to this semi-final product. I say semi-final because it is by no means perfected but after seven years of review; I think it’s time to release.
Sincerely Yours is the third and final installment of a poetry series called Write Right. Its predecessors, To Whom It May Concern and Rough Draft, were unreleased self-published paper books.
What I’m the most excited about is sharing such intimate thoughts. Re-reading some of the poetry I wrote, now many years ago, gives a new appreciation for my life today. Much of the poetry you’ll read here seems dark, which during the time in my life just seemed like status quo, but paints a vivid picture of one coming to age.
To Whom It May Concern
In life, some things we may learn,
Hearts will crumble, flood with tears,
Slowly breakdown and then burn.
In love, God’s is always given,
A love that we need not earn.
I realize this as I write myself, and
To whom it may concern.
I’ll Leave My Light on for You
I’ll leave my light on for you
Just in case one day you decide to return,
I’ll leave my light on
Because my heart is something you earned.
I’m waiting, staring out of my window
And my door is still jarred open,
Just thought that you may return to me
Because within my heart I’m still hoping.
Yet within my heart I’m tapping on your window
And I am secretly knocking at your door,
I often question my reasons and motives
But my heart
