Following the 1925 storyline from Necropolis: Pharaoh (“Schäfer's Expedition”) and returning to our heroine - Donita de LaFontaine - our story continues as both a sequel to the tragic 1930 events at the Great Pagan Temple of Shub-Niggurath (Necropolis: R'lyeh) and a prequel to The Symbiot (1987).
Traveling with her adolescent daughter Nadia between Nazi Germany and the Allies' England, Donita's playing a dangerous game.
Returning thirteen years later, Donita finds herself caught in the subterfuge machinations of the Nazi's and other dark cults desperate to attain The Music of the Spheres. With Otto Zann comatose it is only Donita de LaFontaine that knows The Music!
Michel Weatherall
Michel Weatherall is a native of Ottawa, has lived in Europe and Germany and travelled extensively. With over 30 years in the print/publishing industry, self-publishing was a natural step to his company, Broken Keys Publishing. He has published 6 novels and 2 collections of poetry. Two shadows skirted down the darkened sanitarium's halls; one larger, one smaller.
The glazed ceramic tiled walls reflected what little light there was but amplified any sounds, the faintest echoes harsh and sharp.
Years ago she had set up a significant trust fund for the Sanitarium to care for her husband. There was a time when she had some degree of clout here, some influence. But that was before the Nazi Party took power. That was before the war.
She had paid a hefty price for the forged documents that allowed her and her daughter into The Fatherland. Between the SS and the Gestapo, Heidelberg was essentially locked down. But, power-hungry, paranoid, and corrupt, the Gestapo were not beyond being bought. She even had to pay the senior orderly for the key to Otto Zann's room.
As she unlocked the door in silence the two shadows slipped in. Otto sat in his chair. Although his emerald eyes were open, they were vacant. He was comatose, as he had been for nearly thirteen years now.
As the smaller shadow moved into a band of moonlight, a young girl materialized out of the darkness. She peeked her head around to look into Otto's eyes. The older woman's chin quivered as a lone tear fell from Donita's blue eyes. She fortified herself before her daughter. This was meant to be a joyous occasion, even though she knew it would be bitter-sweet.
The twelve-year-old's auburn hair shimmered in the subdued moonlight that fell through the patient's window. Her green eyes, filled with wonder, made her mother cry. Donita always saw
