    Homer is estimated to have lived during the 8th century B.C.

    Very few things are known about Homer. Due to the lack of information, many experts have questioned his existence. Therefore, two perspectives can be found on the subject of Homer:

    The first perspective concludes that Homer did exist. In that case, he is seen as an aoidos, i.e., a poet who told stories, who would have lived between the 8th and 7th centuries B.C. and would have been the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey;

    The second perspective believes that he did not exist and that behind the name ‘Homer’ hides a group of aoidos that would have composed the two works that are attributed to him.

    To this day, this argument has still not been resolved, as both sides present valid
