He describes his motivation for launching Zen Pencils: "I was working in the boring corporate graphic design industry for eight years before finally quitting at the end of 2011 to pursue my passion for illustration and cartooning.       Inspirational quotes made into scenes in a comic book style. Though the quotes are profound in their messages, having them turned into a visual scene and watch a cartoon person act them out, actually makes the message more profound.

      I loved the art and the creator's own journey from drudgery to this artistic outlet. But inspirational quotes are so frightfully thin and insipid. I suppose they must motivate people . . but maybe they're around because everybody needs a splash of unchallenging confirmation bias for their own dreams ...
