About this ebook

"It’s Wonderful! I love the characters. And Alicia, OMG, she's so real I think I know her.” B. Escamilla, Palo Alto, CA

"Every time I thought I had it figured out, there was a new twist to the story. I couldn't put it down. Great read!" C. Gallagher, Chicago, IL

Love, Obsession, Murder, Death, Mannequins, Rattlesnakes, Drug Lords, Chinatown, Ghosts...
And the World’s Most Haunting Heroine!

Alicia Lies Murdered on the floor of our apartment in Los Altos, California. My wife... the girl I fell in love with when I was growing up in Mexico. Her body has been brutally slashed. I call the police. They think I did it... me, Dr. Carlos Mann, Professor of Logic at Leland University.
Eventually, I’m cleared. But now my mind starts playing games, forcing me to hide inside compulsions, obsessing about dangers that aren’t even there. It’s better than facing the fact that I’ve lost Alicia.
And then she's back. I can tell because all my books have been thrown across the living room. Pictures of our life together are scattered everywhere. She’s back... and she’s pissed. Alicia never could control her temper.
Amy Joy, one of my students, snuck a pair of her panties into my desk drawer one morning. It’s the kind of thing that would bring Alicia back from the dead. And it did. But I have to help Amy, whether Alicia likes it or not. A sinister pair of human traffickers own Amy and her sister, and one day Amy tells me about the horrific fate they have planned for her.
The bad guys find out how much I know and send a couple of thugs to kill me. That’s enough to get Alicia to show up. But can she save me? Can she foil the human traffickers? Can she punish and destroy her murderer?
Before it’s all over, overwhelming supernatural forces stand against her. But, hell, that just makes her stronger.
Told in the voices of Carlos and Alicia Mann, Alicia’s Ghost is a funny, imaginative and thrilling ride through the human and spirit worlds of Mexico and the American Southwest.

Let me say first of all that I don’t normally read works in this genre. In fact, Alicia’s Ghost is the first such book that I’ve read, and frankly, I was surprised to find I enjoyed it. I’m not the type of person who is typically able and willing to suspend disbelief when it comes to stories with ghosts. Indeed, there were a number of moments while reading this book when I felt the intrusion of my own lack of belief imposing itself upon the story. I sometimes found it difficult not to question the reasonableness of the logic that exists in Alicia’s and Carlos’ world. But I got past it, and here’s why. It’s a well-written story. The characters are complex and well-fleshed out, the plot is unique and compelling, and the quality of writing is excellent. But what I enjoyed most about it were the subtle changes in tone as the story progresses. The first chapter – which is beautifully written – leads one to believe that the story will be dark, perhaps even depressing, but it isn’t. In fact, once the Alicia character is introduced and her POV begins, the tale begins to take on a lighter, sometimes even humorous tone, and this was what made the story for me. However horrible their experiences get, the characters never seem to lose hope or their senses of humor, and I found that very refreshing. The authors have made it very easy to become invested in Alicia and Carlos and all of their friends, both living and dead. Most importantly, when I got to the end of the book, I realized that I was disappointed because it was over. I really wanted to know what happened to them next. Good thing Iuppa and Mendoza have written a sequel!I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
