About this ebook
Mark Lardas
Mark Lardas has always been fascinated by things related to the sea and sky. From building models of ships and aircraft as a teen, he then studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, but his interest in aviation led him to take a job on the then-new Space Shuttle program, where he worked for the next 30 years as a navigation engineer. Currently he develops commercial aircraft systems as a quality assurance manager. He has written numerous books on military, naval or maritime history.

Reviews for World War I Seaplane and Aircraft Carriers

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5A useful rush through the early history of naval aviation ships. The text is succinct with no glaring errors. The tabular treatment of the ships is excellent, by far the best part of the book. No surprises in the selection of photographs. Some of the art work is questionable, notably the treatment of the loss of Ben-my-Chree at Castellorizo - the harbour shown is vast, not the confined space of the actual harbour. Ben-my-Chree was escorted by French destroyer Pierrier , Ariane (not Ariadne) was the French Admiral's yacht. To be fair, the painting does have a fair representation of Pierrier, but Ben-my-Chree... UGH!)
