About this ebook
Will their relationship crash and burn before they can make it to the altar?
Clark is better with robots than people... which makes him even more thankful for his fiance, Trent. Unfortunately, Clark’s current work project -- designing a self-driving car -- is so demanding that it’s cutting into his and Trent’s personal time.
Trent is an easygoing good ol’ boy. He’s not intimidated by Clark’s quirky genius -- as a professional baseball player, he’s got his own strengths. But the more dinners he eats alone, the more he wonders if Clark is really committed to their relationship.
When an injury jeopardizes Trent’s career, he starts to feel like a burden instead of a partner -- but his fiance is under more pressure than ever. Can Clark get his head out of the geek clouds long enough to persuade Trent he’s serious about getting married, or will he lose the only man he’s ever wanted?
My Gay Geek Wedding is a steamy m/m erom with a HEA. Recommended for readers 18+ due to explicit content.

MY GAY GEEK WEDDING
(CHAPTER ONE)
I’ve never been a morning person. Most geeks aren’t. There’s little incentive to get up early after catching up on late night Doctor Who. The reboot referenced a monster and a companion from the old sixties' series. So yes, I had to stay up late.
Still, there are reasons to get up with the sun. The main reason is working out right now in his home gym but I got the gold around my finger to remind me. I stretched out my long slender fingers as the bright California sun ran over the gold band. It wasn’t an official wedding ring, but enough to let other guys know I was taken.
Excessive attention from men has never been an issue with me. I’m not that college guy who hated his tight swimmer body but I can’t deny my dating history. Most gays liked their men big and strong. Sure there are exceptions but the one I wanted in college was on the baseball diamond.
Most guys didn’t date me but one did – one large, tall slab of Texas muscle did.
I bit my lip and just compared Trent from college to what he looked like now. I thought nothing could beat the old version, but I felt that way about Original Series Star Trek.
And look how the follow up turned out. I ran my fingertips over a photo of Trent and I at the Dallas comic book convention. My favorite bald starship captain was in the background but my favorite man in the front. Several people took photos, but this one shows the exact moment he was on his knee with his engagement ring out.
I’m a lucky man.
I wrapped the yellow robe around my waist and walked to the kitchen. A tiny black camera blinked as I passed by, and sent my image to the silver humanoid robotic hand next to the coffee pot. Somewhere in our network, the computer algorithm recognized my face and the time of day. The ‘hand’ reached over and grabbed a coffee cup shaped like a blue British police box. I watched with a smile as it grabbed a spoon and put in exactly thirty grams of sugar. The kitchen filled with soft clinks. It’s not something I couldn’t do myself but my little side projects give me time to free think and come up with solutions about work’s self-driving car problem.
Maybe I should create a life-size robot? Again, I didn’t need something to get the cream out of the refrigerator but who doesn’t want to live in the future?
Two large, familiar hands went on top of my shoulders and gently squeezed.
Mmmm… the present’s pretty nice. I leaned back against rippling muscles I knew would be there. I closed my eyes and inhaled Trent’s sweaty workout musk before I turned around.
Sometimes I hated our conflicting schedules. Now, life wasn’t like college where we had plenty of time together. Although, I admit there’s something to his workout regimen. My gaze went over his developed chest muscles already slick with a thin sheen of sweat. I looked up into that square rugged jaw. He didn’t shave, but darn if the bristly dark stubble didn’t look good on him.
There are a few people that looked like they were born into their profession. Some of my teachers had that scholarly look but Trent screamed ‘baseball player’. It went beyond his thick flexed out biceps, wide shoulders, or even tight six-pack abdominals. There was just something about his stance that screamed ‘athlete’.
If I worked in Hollywood, I’d cast him as a baseball player. Of course people would accuse me of hiring my fiancé.
Damn… I don’t think I’ll ever tire of that word.
He looked down and smiled. We’ve been in California for a while but he still had a hint of his Texas accent.
Morning cute stuff.
"Morning, hot stuff," I said.
Surprised you’re up this early Clark.
It was nine in the morning. With anybody else that would be sarcasm but it was early for me. Between our late night uh… workouts and me trying to figure out the smart car troubles, I wasn’t sleeping much. Some of it was from watching sci-fi to relax and speed up the ideas. The baseball robot arm I made for Trent was inspired by Terminator. So far the ideas didn’t come.
I shook away my thoughts and back to the sweaty muscled man before me. Some guys reek when they sweat but not him. He had that smell that says man and exertion. It never failed to get my heart beating – like right now. My heart raced as I ran a finger over his chest. Maybe you should go like this to the party tonight?
He smiled and gave me a mildly sarcastic look.
I’m not sure they’d like that?
Statistically, the chances of complaints are low. Trust me… I know math.
He smiled for a split second before he pressed his lips together into a fine line. You sure you need me there? I’m not so sure I…
He swallowed hard. Fit in.
I stared back and wondered about the true meaning. I was getting better at reading him. There’s geek stereotypes, but the lack of ‘socially aware’ niceties was true with me. My IQ’s over one-fifty but the way ‘normal’ people act confuses me. They don’t act logically.
To his credit, I think he understood why I said nothing. He took in a deep breath and his chest muscles pushed out. I’ll go. Anything for you Clark, you know that. It’s just… there’s nothing for me to contribute. I’m useless.
His hands went out before they slapped against his hard thighs. Nobody knows me there. They think I’m on staff and are always asking about the AI problem with the car or a hundred other questions I’m not smart enough to answer.
Normally, the problem was too many people recognizing Trent. They were nice, but we never had a moment to ourselves. It’s not like I wanted things to change. I mean, what decent boyfriend wouldn’t want his man to be successful? I didn’t care about the money even if it was a professional baseball player’s salary. I just wanted him to have his own success.
The people I worked with were fellow geeks themselves. Most of them couldn’t name a sports team for California. Although, to be honest, if I wasn’t with Trent, I couldn’t either.
Think Clark. Just because the problem’s emotional, doesn’t mean you can’t find a solution.
My head jerked up and I snapped my fingers. I got it. Be our driver!
His eyebrows rose, and it looked like he was trying to hold in a grin. "You want me to be the driver of a driverless car. I’m not sure how that supposed to make me feel better."
You’re a sports celebrity. We need publicity. I’m sure the number one hitter would do just fine.
Because of you…
No, you,
I said. It’s true I came up with the algorithm and the first version of the robot arm to help with his swings. The rest of it was all him. He was the one that woke up early in the morning. Those hard muscles were his creation.
When we first met, I wondered how I could justify having a man that hot. I’m not that insecure guy anymore but I never thought a jock would feel out of place. Growing up, athletes got everything. That same philosophy continued in college. I didn’t think I’d see the day where somebody as popular as him would have issues with fitting in.
Robots are easy… people are hard.
Doctor Lee says we need more publicity to entice investors,
I said. If this works we’ll make history. Might be nice to be known for something besides…
My voice lowered and there was no way to clean up my statement. It wasn’t bad, but Trent wasn’t famous just for his athletic ability. Thanks to our adventure in college, he’d never be just a baseball player but a gay one.
There were a few other players we both suspected, but the media used Trent for any gay stories and sports reports. He wasn’t ashamed, but I think he wanted to be known as a great player and not because he liked guys.
Yeah, I know.
He sucked in a huge breath. Look Clark, I’m not embarrassed of what I am or us. It took a while to figure it out and who I should be with for the rest of my life.
He stood silent. All I ever wanted was just live a good life and play ball.
His hand went out and he fisted it. I listen to you talk and you speak about changing the world. Me? Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a baseball player. Thanks to you–
To you.
To us,
he finished. I’m there but I don’t know how to be more. I’m supposed to be a spokesman for gay rights. Now I have to talk to people with names I can’t even pronounce.
His fingers went down the side of my face and I leaned into his warm touch. We came from the same neck of the woods, but I’m just a simple man.
