I was very close to both of my parents who were my best friends, and I have lost count of the number of happy times we shared, and all of the creativity and laughter. Like my beloved father Joe, my mother Margaret was so special, and my total inspiration. I would therefore like to dedicate this book to their memory.

    Introduction

Following the bizarre events surrounding the demise of the network of transmitters, the headache epidemic was now thankfully over. People were therefore able to get back to their normal daily lives without the constant pain in their heads.

The transmitter network may have been destroyed, although the renegade reptilians were far from fished. With their plans temporarily thwarted, they devised an even more devious way to take control of the planet.

Although the Galactic Council had backed off, they were still monitoring the situation, and growing increasingly worried about the recent developments, particularly as they would also affect them. Alarm had spread quickly around the delegates in the latest ruling Council meeting, but due to the restrictions they had placed upon themselves there was a lack of credible intelligence.

After a heated debate, a decision was made to recruit a secret agent, who would be sent to find out just exactly what the renegade reptilians planned to do next.

However, the choice of candidate was limited, as it had to be a native of planet Earth...

    Life signs critical!

The monotone voice of advanced computerised equipment sounded out a warning, as the badly injured body of a young woman lay on the operating table, surrounded by a group of leading medical personnel. The lights on equipment continued to flash accompanied by the bleeping sound of her life support, as the signal grew ever weaker.

There were a lot of worried expressions as they struggled to keep her alive. Even with their high level of technology, her injuries were so serve that it looked very unlikely that she was going to make it through the night. More out of blind faith than anything else, they struggled on hoping against hope that somehow she would pull through.

To make matters worse, they had absolutely no idea of who she was as there had been no identification on her body, and even if there had been, then there was no way any next of kin would have been able to gain access to this the most isolated of places.

The only hope that they had of finding her true identity was to use another piece of exotic technology, which was little more than a prototype. The decision to use it was a difficult one, as she was so weak that they feared that the strain on her brain would be too great for her to stand. However, after a discussion and vote by the medical team, a slim majority emerged in favour.

With great reluctance, a technician placed the last of the electrodes on her head before turning to face the equipment. He shook his head breathing out heavily, as he had been one of those who had voted against the procedure.

He now waited for the signal to switch on the device, despite his reservations. There was a short heated discussion behind him between the other medical staff, before he finally received the nod of approval. So, against his better judgement, he threw the main switch and watched a series of knobs and dials spring to life.

The large metallic box sent out a gentle humming noise as the power began to build until he was ready to try and tune into her electromagnetic brainwave impulses. This procedure had only worked on a handful of volunteers, and although there were no long lasting side effects, it had caused some very serious headaches.

The technician continued to shake his head as her life signs registered another drop on the monitoring equipment. It all went against his ethics, and those of a number of the medical staff, but the decision had been made and it was up to all of them to do their best to pull her through.

The viewing screen flickered, as the first memory signals began to form. Nothing more than a series of sporadic colours at first, and then as the technician adjusted the frequencies a faint image began to form.

There was a gasp from the medical personnel gathered around this mysterious woman, as they witnessed her decent through a vale of mist before the screen went blank.

These were her last memories, and the whole experience sent her system into shock, as her erratic life signs began to fluctuate wildly, which only confirmed his reservations about the whole procedure. However, he like the others gathered around him, understood how much depended on the next few hours, and after another brief conference they decided to continue.

She had been so close to death that at times they did not even think that she would have made it this far, and yet despite her injuries she had fought on bravely. They all agreed that she was indeed a remarkable young woman, particularly after undergoing emergency surgery. If this procedure was successful, then unfortunately she would have to undergo even more extensive surgery which would change
