About this ebook

Herbs and plants have been used by our ancestors for thousands of years, but aromatherapy is younger than most other forms of herbalism. It's the quiet little sister sitting in the corner, the one who has all the answers. The one who goes unnoticed, operates without being seen, but makes all the difference in the world.

We accidentally use aromatherapy all the time. When we burn that lavender candle at the end of a long day. When we spritz on a sweet perfume before a big date. Or when we choose a lemon-scented cleaner for the floor as opposed to the one with little scent at all. But for those truly interested in the power of scent and essential oils, there is so much more out there. This short ebook will touch on the very basics of aromatherapy, covering everything from how essential oil are made to which essential oils the novice aromatherapist should start with. This ebook is the starting point for a lifelong study of the fine art that is aromatherapy.

Aislin

Aislin is of Irish, Danish, English, and Romany (Gypsy) descent. Raised on the Canadian prairies, she spent most of her formative years with her maternal grandfather, following him into his garden and through the woods. He introduced her to the magick of nature. It is the magick of her childhood that has the greatest influence on her today.Aislin is considered a local expert on paganism, the occult, and astrology. She also teaches some local classes on these topics, though The Winnipeg Pagan Teaching Circle. She has been a Wiccan High Priestess since 2000, and has always made an effort to educate seekers when they ask. She founded The Order of the Sacred Star, a group that specializes in educating Pagans of all kinds as well as any other interested parties. Her own children, both boys, are quickly learning the ways of Wicca and seem to embrace nature’s magick with vigor. She is also a professional astrologer and Tarot reader, serving her local community in this capacity as frequently as required. As a writer, Aislin is the author of Tarot Deciphered: Understanding and Using the Tarot, which has become a handbook for those new to the Tarot and its uses. She is also the author of the entire Ashling Wicca Series, which is the first series of books to publish anything about Ashling Wicca and its teachings. If you’re interested in discovering more about Aislin and her work, connect with her through her blog: http://theorderofthesacredstar.blogspot.com/

    About the Author

    Introduction

I’ve been a healer for years, but as I grow older and wiser I continually become more open to the various methods of healing. Over the years, and especially in recent years, I’ve incorporated the practice of aromatherapy into my healing practices. Sometimes I do this in an overt way, but most of the time I am more subtle about it. The scent of essential oils soothes, calms, relaxes, or otherwise affects individuals in positive ways regardless of whether they are even aware of aromatherapy as a practice. It’s one of those things that the patient does not need to believe in for it to work, which makes it a highly useful form of therapy.

Because aromatherapy can be incorporated into other types of healing, and because it can be used in subtle and non-threatening ways, it is suitable for use with anyone. Some people are simply not comfortable with the idea of herbalism, or Reiki, or energy healing, but almost everyone enjoys a pleasant scent. Burning a candle, or using an oil diffuser, or simply rubbing the hands with a diluted essential oil, are simply and practical ways to use aromatherapy to your benefit. Unlike some other forms of therapy, aromatherapy can be used on just about anyone at just about any time and in practically any place. This can work to your advantage, especially when using aromatherapy
