Foreword:
Looking for a new way to win? Even if you turn out to be a dud, you’ll have a great adventure. I had to learn the hard way, by doing. I had no mentors except for a lady poker player who taught me that if I played well, they couldn’t beat me. She was right on.
One needs to be reasonably intelligent and in control of their emotions at the table. One also needs a good bankroll to start, and if you are not already rich, get ready for a real life changer! If you adhere to the method laid down in this book, you won’t have any choice but to win. You don’t worry about getting lucky, rather, you make your own luck by playing good.
There are not many golden opportunities in these troubled days. Poker is one of them.
Are you going to play the game, or will the game play you?
This book is a manual coming from 40 years of playing the game. Professional poker is not for everyone. God bless, break a leg, and good luck.
SESSION I
PLAY TO WIN:
Patience:
I don’t know about the virtue part of it, but if you want to win at poker, one has to have a lot of it.
You have to be able to wait on the hand. You can’t go out looking for it. Patience! Patience and all good things will come to you if you wait. All good things come to those wait, except those waiting for the electric chair. Patience is a major key to the operation.
Self-Discipline:
This means NO BOOZE while you are playing. Maybe afterwards. It takes a clear head to beat those people you are playing. You need to pay attention to everything that is happening at the table. Keep your focus right there until you are through playing!
Some players smoke a bit of pot before a game to make it a little less boring.
