Most of the people I know have problems sleeping. Some can’t get to sleep for hours after they’ve gone to bed, others wake up during the night too often and can never get a good night’s sleep. Then, there are those who struggle with getting up in the morning and feel tired even if they’ve slept long enough.
So what ruins our sleep?
It’s what we do in the evening, what we do later in the day but shouldn’t, some of our most ingrained habits together with the environment we’ve created.
We are sabotaging our rest at night and don’t let the body and mind turn off and calm down. We keep them activated with caffeine later in the day, too much socializing in the evening, eating and drinking prior to bedtime, using devices in bed and leaving them next to us while sleeping, and so on.
None of this tells the brain that the day has ended and it’s time to relax until the new one comes.
But we can change that.
Sleep is more important than most of us think. It’s what we spend 1/3 of our life on, and if it’s not quality, our health will be bad too. And we’ll never be as productive as we can or have the level of success and happiness we deserve.
