    Introduction

While the media would have us believe that medicine and science are conquering the frailties of the human condition, in reality they are systematically failing to address the ills that are wracking modern society. We may be able to transplant organs, clone animals, and perform keyhole surgery, but the contradiction is that more people are suffering from illness and disease than ever before. More money is currently being pumped into medical research than at any other point in human history, but why are we as a species not getting heathier? Surely this highlights the fact that traditional medicine is failing to prevent or treat the biggest killing diseases of our age.

Don’t get me wrong, modern medicine can be nothing short of miraculous and many of us, myself included, owe our lives to the skilled medical professionals in whose hands we place them. However, government policy ultimately dictates the direction of the medical industry, (and don’t ever forget it is an industry, and the leading concern for industries is to make a profit), and the single most important area for the prevention of disease and promotion of health that is almost entirely ignored, bypassed, criticized and maligned by government and pharmaceutical companies alike is orthomolecular medicine.
