The Power of Fasting Revealed

About this ebook
Why we need to fast continues to be one of the unexplained spiritual concepts and mysteries in the Bible. Whether divinely ordained or humanly inspired, fasting when employed, transforms the soul and brings light and divine intervention into every crises or situation.
As God’s workmanship created for good works, He has placed big visions in all of us. Our Creator’s plan and purpose are to direct each one of us to a higher calling…into a masterful destiny. From the least to the greatest, His divine power offers us unlimited opportunities and possibilities to attain higher spiritual goals in life that benefit humanity and God’s kingdom.
The truth is, we get the best out of life when we desire something bigger than ourselves. If you have been nurturing a dream all this time, isn’t it time you stepped out of your dream and lived it out? How? You may ask. Nehemiah’s desire and passion to see change in the desolation of Jerusalem made him a leader we all have come to know and admire today. His passion alone did not get him to the king. His prayers coupled with fasting set the stage for him to approach the task that he conceived in his heart.
THE POWER OF FASTING REVEALED, will help you discover how to nurture your dreams and fulfill your destiny. Fasting, prayers, and the study of God’s Word have played significant roles in changing lives and shaping history. The Bible is filled with ordinary men and women like you who changed history by their life’s story…leaving a legacy behind. Written with the believer in mind. Michael B. Hyde carefully lays down the Biblical principles behind fasting, why it is increasingly necessary to fast, and the powerful spiritual benefits fasting brings to our lives.

The Power of Fasting Revealed - Michael B. Hyde
Preface
The Bible represents God and His relationship with man—the center of His Creation. It also displays His power and how in times past, He selected ordinary men and women, people who were disadvantaged, to serve His purpose. The Bible is a book of dashes
waiting for those with faith and an open mind to fill in their names and make it real and personal to their lives. To make His Holy Book real to us, He chooses ordinary people as examples so we will not have excuses when it comes to seeking answers to our problems.
Many of the families in the Bible were dysfunctional; some of them had flaws in their character. Some of God's chosen kings were corrupt, and some of His trusted people failed Him once or twice. All these drawbacks did not bother God. He continued to select ordinary people for extraordinary tasks. Many of the people saw themselves as unqualified, and unprepared for divine service: but regardless of how they felt, God enabled them to carry out His plans successfully.
These men and women were ordinary people, unschooled, with no prior knowledge of God and no Bible to which they could refer.
But they felt something in them that urged them to simply believe. They felt inspired, encouraged, and determined to listen to the Voice of God. They held deep convictions (faith), felt inner yearnings in their beings, and heard a voice that told them to move – to leave one place for another, and fight battles that seemed impossible to win.
They listened to the voice that told them they could overcome; they understood that they need not fear. They did not see His face. They only heard His voice. They believed, and they moved forward, they fought battles, and performed awesome miracles – all in the name of this Supreme Being called Jehovah.
Rising from obscurity and with unknown backgrounds in history, kings were made and prophets arose who acted on behalf of God. Regular men and women rose to thrones and became queens and kings. God personally handpicked these people and made them into the legendary characters with which we proudly associate ourselves today. They were just like us. As we look into the Scripture and see how ordinary lives changed, we are encouraged to know that God can use anyone for His glory.
What has always intrigued me was how God chose and used these Biblical characters. Everything He did with these men and women astonishes me. The idea of God selectively using the foolish things of the world to confound the mighty
still baffles me. The miracles they performed confounds me as I sit and meditate on God. I have always asked myself, how were they able to do what they did? What was going through their minds as they moved with courage to fight or confront powerful authorities? What life did they live before God called them? So I wonder.
As I grew in my Christian experience, I came to one realization: everything exists in perfect spiritual order. I also became aware that God keeps this universe through a series of spiritual principles that He set up when He created the world. These spiritual principles are absolutes: they never change and they work, regardless of who applies them. Faith, obedience, and the love of God are also principles that add strength to the eventual realizations of God's purpose.
This knowledge and experience spurred me to seek and test some of those absolute spiritual principles to discover if they work for everyone. I came to conclude that, indeed, they do work for everyone, regardless of where one begins in life, and I decided to seek more.
Take for example the creation of the world. God followed an order and principles in laying down the foundation until man was created. The same applies to God's plan of salvation. That also followed a perfect order until Christ's coming. Nothing humankind did stopped God's divine order to change history. Even in the darkest moments of human history God's plans and principles were never altered. Jesus followed the same expressed spiritual principles to accomplish extraordinary miracles that no other human being has ever done, or will do.
He also left us with many instructions, teachings, and a set of principles that, when applied to life diligently, have never failed to accomplish its desired intent. The Word of God carries Life and Spirit. The Word movies in us and around us to assemble and harness all the elements necessary for God to accomplish His divine purpose through all of us.
The problem many face today is how to assemble this set of Biblical principles and make it available for those ordinary people who are searching for extraordinary solutions to complex human problems.
Fasting and prayers have long become one of the unexplained spiritual phenomena that have worked in the past and still work today. No one has failed to accomplish what he or she set out to do when these two spiritual principles were combined.
The victory we seek lies in this statement: I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
(John 14:11-14)
No limits have been set. Jesus did not qualify those that can be heard or refused. He said, Anyone and anything you ask in my name.
What we need to bring along is faith, discipline, and the desire for change. The spiritual principles work for everyone including you.
Having read this verse many times, I took Jesus' offer and begun my quest for the deeper meaning of this passage. I wanted to do some of the things Jesus did: praying for the sick, asking demonic spirits to leave their victims, helping those who are weak, and encouraging those who are seeking solutions to complex human problems. In the end, I realized that the Bible is not just a book, but also the power of God. I knew it as the only place where we can go and be instructed, admonished, corrected, empowered, enlightened, encouraged, and equipped for life's challenges.
Our generation is blessed because all the information could be accessed in one place. Job and Joseph didn't have a Bible, yet they understood God's purpose for their lives. We have the Bible and a friend called Jesus, who has promised to answer anyone who has faith in Him.
No one has been excluded from testing this message.
The only way to know the reality and truth of what Jesus said in John 14: 11-14 is assembling these spiritual principles—fasting and prayers—and committing yourself to apply them. As you act on this information, your life and the lives of those who are close to you will dramatically change—for the better. That is the purpose of this book. To help lay the spiritual foundation to victorious living.
Armed with this practical knowledge and principles that were used in the past, l have put together information that I have used and recommended that others use. It has yielded spectacular results. So I am confident that, regardless of your present condition, if you set out to succeed in all things: emotional, spiritual, and physical; You can never fail!
This is a practical book, not a treatise. You need an open mind to see and understand the basics of what I have labored to introduce. Some of the concepts are new, yet Biblical. This is timeless information, dating back thousands of years. The people of the Bible used fasting and prayers to cause miracles to happen. Your moment of change has come. It is now your turn to take advantage of the gifts God has provided for us all, and by so doing change your destiny.
My advice to you is to read this book carefully. Each time you open the book say a prayer. Pause briefly in meditation before you read where you left off. The information has to sink into your spirit before it can have meaning in your life. I wish you all victories and successes as you take this bold step to win back yow· life and become the hands and feet of Jesus: to serve others in His name.

Introduction
The physical results and spiritual experience of fasting are wonderful. When we fast, the spirit within becomes disassociated from the demands of the body as the body itself is freed from gross habits. The secret of good health does not lie in chemicals or prescription medicine, but in the energy that God supplies to the soul to sustain the body. This energy is called life-force or the breath of God. ''The Lord
