Have you ever been traveling through life like nothing is wrong? Living your life like everything was great? Then all of the sudden, you hit a brick wall, and everything just collapses around you? This was what happened to me and my wife. We were living our lives under the delusion that we were doing what God wanted us to. Because of that high level of delusion, God had to take drastic measures to get our attention. That's when my wife got sick. She spent three months in the hospital and almost died. This book is a brief history of what we experienced during her illness and the things that God taught us through this illness. I hope that this book will help others to look into their lives and make sure they are doing what God wants from them, before He has to take drastic measures to get your attention.

Preface

All my life, I've heard God will never put more on you than you can handle.

I believed it with all my heart. I was to understand that we would never face trials or difficulties, bigger than we could handle. As I got older, I quickly began to realize that statement was not in the Bible, nor is it something God has told us. I know that the verse in 1 Corinthians 10:13 is where we get the idea that God would not give us more than we can handle, but at a closer look, it talks about temptations more than we can handle. These past few months, however, have shown me that God will do, whatever it takes, to get us back on the right path. He will go to great lengths to make sure you stay on the narrow way, or to get you back on it. Sometimes, we become so disillusioned, so engrained in our ways, that we fail to see the severity of how wrong we are actually living. Sometimes, we believe we are doing things for God, or are living for God, when our lives and actions show a different side. We've lived it. This is our story.

Dedication

First, I would like to dedicate this to the awesome woman who decided to make me the happiest man in the world. The woman who had to spend the time in the hospital, and in rehab, for us to learn what we did. This amazing woman is my wife, Bina. I would also like to dedicate this book to our friends and family who stood beside us during this incredibly difficult time. From being there during the illness, to keeping our spirits up during her recovery. There are no words to express our gratitude for all that you did. I love you all.

Chapter 1

We met on Tuesday, June 14th 2005, when she showed up at my apartment to network our computers. Her name was Bina and was the most incredible woman I had ever met. She was beautiful, smart, and a bit of a nerd. Our conversation started over our love of video games, we had our first date that following Friday, and were married a year to the day later. It was quite a whirlwind relationship, but there was something about this woman that grabbed my attention. There was something to this, something was driving us toward the destination of being together. Despite what we led ourselves to believe, we spent much of the first six years of our marriage, living in a way that was not complimentary to Christ. Sin ruled our lives. We were all about what made US feel good, not what God wanted for us. We were bound by the addictions and vices that we were not ready to let go of. All the while believing we were fine. We were using our knowledge of God's word to justify our actions, bending it to fit our desires. Doing this, we fooled ourselves into believing that we were in Christ, but we weren't. In 2011, through the help of a friend, we began going to church, trying to set our lives back on the foundation that God was laying out for us. We found a church, fell in love with it, and began the process of joining. We worshiped every Sunday, implanted ourselves in the inner workings of the church, and tried filling that void we didn't realize was there. Despite all we did, we didn't really change who we were inside, nor did we make an effort to stop our sin. We continued justifying the ways we were living, by using scripture no less. It was just not right. We lived like nothing was wrong, like we were still on the narrow path, but that was only on the outside. It was a mask we wore. A costume, so that the world and our church would not see the real people that was on the inside. If you could look past the facade, you would see the boy who grew up in the church, fighting a 23 year porn addiction. Who was only looking out for what he wanted, spending his whole life being told that God had a plan for him, but never wanting to make the effort to find what it was. The girl, who had a past in witchcraft, and rebelled when forced into believing in God. She had a deep seated fear of going to hell, but
