William Golding (1911-1993) was a British author. He studied English Literature at Oxford University, before working at a theater as an actor, author and producer. He later became a professor of English and philosophy.
In 1940, he was drafted into the Navy and participated in the landing on the Normandy coast. This experience deeply affected his vision of humanity. His work is consequently marked by a deep pessimism and seeks to demonstrate the irremediable fall of man and the triumph
