B.G. Thomas

B.G. Thomas lives in Kansas City with his two husbands—which yes, is different, but amazingly rewarding and wonderfully romantic. They have two sweet rescue dogs named Oliver (who the breed name Dorkie applies perfectly) and Frodo (who is just learning to be a dog). He is missing his soul dog Sarah Jane very much, but she will live on forever in several of his books and in his heart. He is also blessed to have a lovely daughter and they love to hang out. B.G. loves to read romance, comedy, fantasy, thrillers, mystery, science fiction, and even horror—as far as he is concerned, as long as the stories are character driven and entertaining, it doesn’t matter the genre. He has gone to literature conventions his entire adult life, where he’s been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He has made up stories since he was a child; it’s where he finds his joy. In the nineties, he wrote for gay adult magazines but stopped because the editors wanted all sex without plot, and edited his setups right out. “The sex is never as important as the characters,” he says. “Who cares what they are doing if we don’t care about them?” Excited about the growing male/male romance market—where setup and cute meets is where it’s at—he began writing again. He submitted a novella and was thrilled when it was accepted in four days. Since then the romantic tales have poured out of him. “It’s like I’m somehow making up for a lifetime’s worth of story-telling!” “Leap, and the net will appear” is his personal philosophy and his message. “It is never too late,” he testifies. “Pursue your dreams. They will come true!” You can read about whatever he’s working on right now or whatever he’s rambling on about at his website/blog at: bthomaswriter.wordpress.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/bgthomaswriter Twitter: twitter.com/BGThomasBooks He is always happy to hear from his readers!

    A Secret Valentine - B.G. Thomas

    Secret Valentine

I’M NOT going, Burgess, I shouted.

Oh come on, my longtime buddy begged. It’ll be fun.

How much fun can a fucking Valentine’s Day dance be when I’m single? I asked him. I swear to God, Burgess. I think they specifically made this day so that once a year I can be reminded that I’m single.

Steve, he said, laughing, that’s silly, and you know it.

I turned my back. I hated it when he tried to get me involved in one of his crazy outings. Like the Mardi Gras night at The Male Box, where our costumes had consisted of little more than about a zillion strings of beads, leaving way too much of my flesh exposed for my comfort. Or the Star Trek convention where he’d had us dress up as Kirk and Spock—as lovers! Considering how shy I can be, that shows how convincing Burgess can be. Or conniving, maybe? Manipulative? Well, not that bad.

Just forget it, Burgess. Why should I go to a sweethearts’ dance when I don’t have a sweetheart?

Well, if you would get out more, you might have one. Someone’s just waiting to snatch up a gorgeous guy like you.

Gorgeous? Me? I shook my head. Burgess was only trying to get me to feel better. That and to get me to go to his dance. And why? I was being relegated to be the date of a guy without a date. If a man as terrific-looking as Burgess Cameron didn’t have a boyfriend, what chance did I have?

Not that I think I am ugly. I’m not bad-looking. I’d date me! And while my physique doesn’t contend with Burgess’s (Whose could? He’s massive), it’s pretty damn nice.

And this isn’t just for couples, Burgess continued. There’s a lot of eligible bachelors going. They’re having this drawing where you get a number, and that hooks you up with some other single guy there. You dance a couple of dances with him, and then you kiss him.

    Kiss him? I exclaimed.

Hey, Burgess said. Winner gets five hundred dollars!

Still, with my luck, I retorted, spinning around, I’ll get some old troll or someone with a huge beer gut.

Burgess got a stern expression on his face. You’re going, Steve.

I’m not, I barked, turning my back again.

He chuckled mischievously. Myles is playing Cupid….

    That caught my attention. Hmmmm?

Think about it, he crooned. Myles… in nothing but a diaper and a pair of wings….

Now that bore consideration. Myles was hot. Seeing him in almost nothing did have a certain appeal. But when I looked back at Burgess’s smiling face, thoughts of a nearly nude Myles vanished. There was only
