About this ebook

This book is about the past and present day medical treatments used over a long period of time. It takes an in depth look into the Medical practices from the days of Hippocrates and other natural medical practitioners through to the beginning of modern medicine when the first effective manufactured medicines were produced. It follows the path of these prescription medicines with the many deaths and unfortunate side effects on the human body. Light is thrown on the cause and effect of the various preservatives and chemicals which are added to all manufactured food products and show details of various products and which unhealthy items are included in their manufacture. There are also shown many natural products with proven health benefits and many instances of cures of diseases which were considered to be fatal by mainstream medicines.

Walter Lobwein

My name is Walter Lobwein and with my wife, Barbara, live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. We have been married for Fifty-eight years and have Five children, Ten Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren.I became deeply involved in the benefits and results of medical treatments in the early stage of our marriage when Barbara suffered from a debilitating health problem. Despite the best medical treatment available at that time her health failed to improve and she told me I must prepare to be a widower,Desperate for help I turned to Natural treatments, very much in its infancy at that time, and was fortunate in reaching a highly qualified Homeopath named Rex Peterson who was well known and respected in our area. Where Mainstream medicine had failed completely he was successful and over a period of Three years he gradually restored her to health solely by diet and natural supplements.

    PROLOGUE

After long consideration and years of research into the benefits of Natural Medicine and the advances or otherwise of Mainstream Medicine I have decided to write this book, presenting what I believe to be a helpful insight into maintaining a balanced, affordable and healthy lifestyle.

Excerpts from highly respected writers and nutritionists are included and you are invited to view their writings and form your own opinion of the knowledge and experience they offer.

I do not have medical or technical qualifications and the contents of this book are purely the results of my research, including personal and family experiences. Nothing written in this book is to be construed as Medical or other professional advice and is intended only as a guide to those seeking helpful knowledge which may improve their health and lifestyle.

    INTRODUCTION

My name is Walter Lobwein and with my wife, Barbara, live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. We have been married for Fifty-eight years and have Five children, Ten Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren.

I became deeply involved in the benefits and results of medical treatments in the early stage of our marriage when Barbara suffered from a debilitating health problem. Despite the best medical treatment available at that time her health failed to improve and she told me I must prepare to be a widower,

Desperate for help I turned to Natural treatments, very much in its infancy at that time, and was fortunate in reaching a highly qualified Homeopath named Rex Peterson who was well known and respected in our area. Where Mainstream medicine had failed completely he was successful and over a period of Three years he gradually restored her to health solely by diet and natural supplements.

The full story of her journey is included later in this book.

    THE PROGRESS OF MEDICINE

In this modern progressive world the people of today know little of the progress of medicine over the centuries gone by. We take for granted the availability of ultra-sound, x-rays, etc which are used today to detect and pinpoint problems within the human body.

But let's go back to where it all began. In the year 460BC a Greek scientist named Hippocrates was born. He has always been recognized as The Father of Natural Medicine and the Hippocratic Oath has long been recognized in the medical world.

Here are just a few of his famous quotes:-

Primum non nocerum. (First do no harm)

The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.

    Walking is man's best medicine.

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food

Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work.

Extreme remedies are very appropriate for extreme diseases.

"That which is used - develops. That which is not used wastes away

From this you will see that he was a true follower of Natural Healing, the only known type of medicine at that time. Over centuries there followed many others who adopted similar natural methods. Here are some brief details of their systems.

1755 - 1843 - The German physician Samuel Hahnemann was the founder of homeopathy. In Latin, homeo means same, and pathy means suffering. He rediscovered the Hippocratic precept of treating like with like and gave it new meaning.

During his medical studies in Leipzig and Vienna, Hahnemann was highly critical of established medical practices, finding them cruel and barbaric. He considered it improper to suppress symptoms of disease, believing that the body should be given a chance to heal itself.

    Vincent Priessnitz (1799-1851)

Austrian-born Vincent Priessnitz is the father of hydrotherapy-the treatment of disease by means of water.

    Father Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897)

Father Sebastian Kneipp became world-famous in his lifetime for his water cure and herb treatments. His teaching is perhaps the single most influential natural therapy to this day, yet he never treated a patient outside
