and Champion.

was published in January 2013.
During an interview, Lu admitted that she was highly inspired by the movie Les Miserables.
She says that having watched the movie, she immediately decided to recreate the conflict between Valjean and Javert in a teenage version, in the form of a complete novel.
The Los Angeles Times review written by Susan Carpenter said that Legend is a taut and exciting romp for all readers with enough inventive details to keep things from becoming cliché.
In the same way, The New York Times said that Legend
is a fine example of commercial fiction with razor sharp plotting, depth of character and emotional arc.
Chapter Two: Plot Overview
The story begins in a fictional country called The Republic.
This country was created after the United States on the coast of California were split in different sectors.
This new country hosts the trials every year to find out the people to train to enter the army to fight a war against the Colonies, or to become a part of the work force in the country.
June Iparis is this Republic’s prodigy. June holds the highest score of 1500 during the trials and training.
On the other hand, Day is this Republic’s most wanted criminal. Day is only fifteen years old. His family is threatened by the plague. He needs medicines to cure his family. He breaks into Los Angeles Central Hospital to steal a cure.
He happens to be wearing a pendant given by his father. While escaping the hospital, Day loses that pedant and allegedly kills Metias Iparis.
June is also fifteen years old. She is given the assignment to find and capture Day. It transpires that Day has been charged with the murder of Metias Iparis, June’s older brother. He is also wanted for several other crimes he has committed against the Republic.
June was born in an elite family in one of the richest districts of the Republic, but she disguises herself as a girl from the slums to go in search of Day. While observing the crime scene, she comes across Day’s fallen pendant.
June tries to lure Day by pretending that
