This book is the second in the Little Horse series. In the previous book Little Horse fell into a stream and was carried away to a farm. The second book continues his story from the farm as he tries to find his way home. He leaves the farm after a thunder storm and faces a fire, a hawk, a the stream again as he follows it to find his home. After struggling for some time he makes it through and finds his mother. The vocabulary in this book is great for new readers but, once again, I am not sure the plot appeals to children today. Although it was written in 2004 it feels dated and old. It can be exciting at times but it feels more suited to younger children who cannot read yet. The illustrations give us some context but are also dated.

A cute story about a little horse that has begun to make himself comftorable in his new home among humans. The artwork is very crips and clear and the landscape his very naturalistic.
