INTRODUCTION

I had been waiting for last one year to write this book, and finally the time came, when I started to write this book of mine. It’s really an awesome feeling to write your own experiences into a book form and to share it with the real world. To start though, I’d like to say that I am a yoga instructor and I am in this profession for past 10 years. When I started yoga teaching, it seemed like the next step to deepen my own personal practice.

Let me first start with my personal experience, it was 10 years back, when I was 17 years old, I was really struggling with so many health issues, and then one of my friends asked me to join yoga classes. I agreed with her, and joined yoga center nearby my house. I used to practice yoga 1/2hr days and slowly and gradually, it increased to 60minutes, then 90 min, and 120 minutes. :)

I am telling you this, because I really experienced so many benefits after practicing yoga. It really helped me to overcome a lot of diseases and now my body is fit and fine, this is all because of doing yoga and eating healthy food. After seeing the benefits from it, I opened my own yoga center, where I taught healthy tips, yoga exercises and its benefits to all my friends and students. Yoga not only makes my body fit, but doing it regularly keeps my mind fresh and at peace. It’s a great therapy. So, now after a lot of experiences and research, I am going to share it with you all in this book. Through this book, I can tell you how beneficial and powerful it is doing YOGA daily.

WHY YOU NEED THIS BOOK?

The answer is very simple - yoga makes you feel better. Practicing yoga exercises, different poses, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga is good for health as it helps you manage or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, stress and other conditions and diseases.

Whenever I meet anybody and tell them, that I practice and teach yoga, most of them give 2 responses, and either they say - I always wanted to try yoga. or they say - I could never do yoga because I can't. And I always give the same reply - You should do yoga!" :)

Let's talk about why you should do yoga:

- It reduces anxiety and gives a better mood.

- Gives better control over medical conditions, which are affected by depression, high blood pressure and cardiac disease.

- Doing regular yoga gives better management of rheumatoid arthritis.

- Maintains better balance in your life.

Many studies have revealed that doing yoga can help with the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, migraines, and more. Even yoga has also been linked to:

- Lower blood pressure

- Mental calmness

- Reduced stress

- Increased strength

- Greater flexibility

- Pain relief and prevention

- Better breath control

- Less post-workout pain

- More confidence

Whether you are a working person, a student, a housewife, 60+, or youngster, you must practice yoga in your daily life. And its benefits, you can see, only once you start practicing it. Why do you practice yoga? If you've not yet tried yoga, how could it benefit you? So sit on the mat and start yoga from today.

HISTORY OF YOGA

Yoga was started in India, and it’s a spiritual practice that has been evolving over the last 5,000 years or so. At the earlier time, the yogis wanted a direct spiritual experience and not any symbolic ritual, so they developed yoga. In Sanskrit, Yoga means union. By doing yoga, we are able to develop a greater awareness of our physical and psychological states. As a result of this we are in a position to better manage our reactions to the thoughts, feelings and responses to various situations.

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline. The origin of Yoga has been speculated to pre-Vedic Indian traditions, and was developed around 5000 years back in ancient India, which is also credited with the early Sramana movements. The Yoga, which is popular today and involves physical exercises, is actually Hatha Yoga and it has its origins in the medieval period. Hatha yoga texts emerged around the 11th century and in its origins was related to Tantrism.

Yoga gurus also known as Yogis from India introduced yoga to the west, in the late 19th and early 20th century. Later in the 1980s, yoga became popular as a method of physical exercise across the Western world. In India, Yoga is practiced is not only as a physical exercise, but it has a meditative and spiritual core. Even in many schools yogas is being taught to students in India.

Many studies have determined the effectiveness of yoga and it has been extracted that yoga is a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. Yoga aids in a patient's psychological healing process.

WHAT IS YOGA?

Yoga can be defined in various sentences with different meaning. In general, it’s a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, which includes breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific body postures that is widely practiced for health and relaxation. Although yoga is not a self-absorption, but it gives us control of ourselves. It calms the frenzy, clears the clutter and allows us to get back in touch with ourselves. Basically yoga is about being in the world. Some people consider yoga as a spiritual path while some do yoga for its psycho-physiological benefits. But yoga is a method for developing a deeper experience
