Burn It - Zak Khan

Introduction

In the year 2012 I found myself in a hospital room, weighing in at 86Kg’s, bloated and uncomfortable, suffering from GERD (Acid Reflux) and an underlying issue I later found to be Celiac Disease. In short, I was in the worst shape of my life both externally and internally.

The problem is I had no idea where to start. After an endoscopy, the doctors found nothing. The doctors prescribed antacid medication and sent me on my way. If you’re struggling with a weight problem that causes other sicknesses to act up, you’re more than aware of how such a simple problem can be so crippling to your life.

I was early in my 20’s and watching my life slip away right before me. Day in and day out, I’d lay in bed, head elevated with pillows to prevent acid from creeping up into my throat, almost in tears thinking that this is the worst day of my entire life. That went on every day for over 2 months. To be honest, I had no idea how the hell I ended up in that bed, extremely overweight, and unable to go about my days without feeling like a ball with a latent defect. It was an awful time for me and the effects it had on my mind were not easy to deal with at all.

It was a trying time but ironically, I found myself browsing through a dozen of blogs one night casually reading advice on GERD and Celiac Disease and though there were a bunch of tricks and ‘six pack shortcuts’, it was in the comment section of an article dealing with the PALEO diet that caught my attention. Someone posted a comment, allow me to paraphrase, all my problems disappeared the moment I started treating my body like a temple.

At first glance, I thought this was a very narcissistic comment until I took a look at myself and realized that right at this moment, I was allowing myself to throw up a defensive wall to prevent me from actually facing reality. Over time, I succumbed to technology and allowed myself to become lazy (You can read more on this in the section The Easiest Do-It-Now Method of Losing Weight).

I think the biggest problem overweight people, including the 2012 version of myself, is being judged. Society is pretty harsh on people that don’t look like models and over time, through media and so forth, our brains have been reprogrammed to believe that we either look like the stars in movies or not bother at all. That is Ludacris and the formula for an unhealthy society.

That very same night, I had an epiphany moment and realized that I wanted to change. No matter what hurdle I would need to overcome next, no matter how much sweat my body needed to create, no matter how many jumping jacks I would have to do every single day, I’d do it because this was as far as I was willing to fall.

Thus, I began the hardest journey to a 21 Kg weight loss and a proper sustained body transformation. This book will provide you with a massive amount of ways to lose weight within 14 days but more importantly, it will provide you with a toolbox of equipment that you can use to sustain and
