I’d like to share with you the story of how I came up with this method of getting in shape. I was in my late thirties and, like many people, I had gotten grotesquely out of shape; the healthy and skinny body from my twenties was long gone. A job with a lot of responsibility, and kids and life itself had kept me so busy that one day I woke up and did not recognize myself. I really thought my best days were over and that the way I looked was just a fact of life. Then I got a membership in a gym and started going to the gym religiously five days a week. I did that for three years, but the results were mediocre. I was working out consistently, but I wasn’t working out hard enough, and my diet was very bad.
The day I turned 40, I decided that something had to change. I began doing some soul searching, trying to unlock the reasons why I was not getting the results that I wanted. I tried hard to rationalize it in many ways, chalking it up to stress, work, age, kids and many other reasons. In the end, I came to a harsh realization: it was a lack of knowledge.
So I started experimenting with different exercise routines and diets. I failed many times, over and over, until I found the secret combination. During my trial and error process, other people at the gym who I did not know laughed at me since my routines were unconventional. Many tried to give me advice on how to do it their way.
