1. The Characteristics of a Bullmastiff Puppy and Dog
––––––––
Tough But Sweet Are the Bullmastiffs! For those who fancy their dogs massive and built well, and yet not be a dog too cumbersome, the Bullmastiff is for you. With nostrils wide and a cute sad black nose and look to their structure, who can resist but give them a hug and kiss whenever they are around.
The teeth are sharp and the eyes are hazel and dark. The ears form a V and square cheeks represent the sturdiness of the breed. The Bullmastiff is known for his tail which is strong and high, the root of the tail is thick with a tapering to the end that falls straight and sharp.
He has a back which is short and leveled straight between his loin and the whither on him. The coat is in various colors and can be dense, short, rough at times and in shades of red, fawn, and black.
The breed of Bullmastiffs is very wary of their surroundings, needless to say they are alert and with good nature to their name. They are very fearless and daring, so do not provoke them too much. They wouldn’t attack, but pin down an intruder and keep him there till you come, so he is a good watch dog.
They are very calm, loyal and sweet natured to say the least and love being around human company and leadership. Since they have a lot of power in them, you have to be stern while training. Be confident and assertive when showering your rules on them or else they would not listen to obedience training. As a mark of respect you should show him who the big daddy at home is, so let him follow you and you shouldn’t follow him.
When you are around, the Bullmastiff should be trained to sit beside you or behind you. Since they have pack instincts and herd a lot, they need to be taught their mannerisms or else they would go wild on you. Remember to take the Bullmastiff on his daily walk and walk in front of him to show him who the leader is and how he should follow the pack.
As a pup he should be allowed to socialize with everyone around and this would depend how you train him on socializing. The Bullmastiff loves to be with pets around and he loves to snore and sleep. Drooling is another nature of his, so when he fancies a human or pet, he would do just that. As a pup, he would be very sensitive and the Bullmastiffs even when grown can be sensitive to the tone you throw. Be assertive but don’t be harsh on him, he isn’t difficult as a pet, just needs to be told who the boss is.
The Bullmastiff should be checked for symptoms of cancer and hip bone issues. They also have problems with their eyes and PRA as well. Some even have bloating issues and boils to be tackled. Don’t overfeed them since they can easily gain pounds.
If he stays with you in an apartment, ensure his walks are regular, but he is at his best outside. Although his coat is short and rough, he would not mind you combing his coat and brushing his belly now and then. He loves his manicures and pedicures as well, so nail clipping is a must.
2. What You Should Know About Puppy Teeth
––––––––
There is no doubt about it; puppies are going to chew on things! Dogs will have 28 baby teeth, and 42 permanent teeth. When a puppy is roughly, 2 to 3 weeks old, their baby teeth start to come in. All their baby teeth should be in place by roughly 8 weeks of age.
The puppy’s new teeth are very tiny and sharp, and will hurt your fingers when they get a hold of them. Most mothers will start to wean their babies at 5 to 6 weeks old.
"Your puppies baby teeth will start to come out around 8 to 12 weeks of age. By roughly 8 months old, your dog’s permanent teeth should all be in. You should make sure that all baby teeth
