If your answer to one or more of these questions is yes, then there’s probably a chance that you are overweight or worse, suffer obesity.

    Overweight and Obesity

    Being overweight or being obese are two of the serious health conditions that are affecting millions and millions of people all over the globe. In the United States alone, more than 1/3 (34.9%) of the country’s population or almost 80 million adults suffer from obesity according to the statistics from the Centers of Disease and Control Prevention or CDC. Being overweight or obese means that your body has excess body fats and that you have exceeded you recommended Body Mass Index or BMI.

    These conditions are considered serious because people who are overweight and are obese are at risk of developing health problems such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, stroke, heart problems, sleep apnoea (a condition where a person’s breathing is disrupted during sleep), fatty liver, and many more. Women who have these conditions also are prone to having fertility or pregnancy problems. Other than this, people who are obese or overweight are also found to have low self-esteem since they are too conscious about their appearance. Because of this, individuals who suffer these conditions tend to shy away or isolate themselves which directly can affect their relationship with their family and friends.

    Measuring BMI and Waistline

    It is important to know your BMI and the measurement of your waistline in order for you to see if your weight is ideal to your height or whether you are underweight, overweight, obese, or very obese.

    In order to calculate your BMI, all you have to do is measure your weight in kilograms and divide it with the square of your height
