Introduction
Going on a diet is the best way to take control of your health. It is true that we are what we eat. If we eat junk food then we are unhealthy because junk food has little to no nutritional value. Eating unhealthy can cause us to have a host of health issues such as being overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar. If any of these health conditions take hold it can lead to some very serious health concerns.
The food we eat can act as nature's pharmacy. Just as a real pharmacy has some drugs that we are better off not taking, so it is with food. And just like a real pharmacy has drugs that are highly addictive, so it is with food. If you eat the right food, the body will react by being healthy. If you eat the wrong food, (junk) the body will react by being unhealthy.
The good news is that even if you are on an unhealthy diet now you can turn it around by eating healthy are possibly reverse the damage inflicted by the junk food. To explain it better, nutritious food will work to strengthen the immune system. A strong immune system is able to fight off germs and infections, whereas a weak immune system will leave a person susceptible to germs and infections. All that has to happen to turn a weak immune system strong is to give the body what it needs, nutrients. These nutrients are absent in junk food but are present in abundance in nutritious foods.
In order to claim the goodness of eating a well balanced diet it needs to be a lifestyle change. If you are accustomed to eating junk then your body may have a weak immune system. If you go on a diet for a while and start to feel better, have more energy, and then go back to your old eating habits, the same old symptoms will return. You cannot eat junk food. You must eat nutritiously.
Both of the diet plans in this book helps to make a good lifestyle change with the clean eating diet and the metabolism boosting diet. The clean eating diet consists of good food, which will work to clear the body of toxins. Clean eating is foods that are whole and without manmade chemicals. It is eating the way our body needs. The metabolism diet is good because it boosts the metabolism, which gives us more energy. If you have more energy you will feel like moving around more which is good. Physical activity is very beneficial for the body. So many people do not exercise as they should because they simply do not feel like doing it. This stems from a sluggish metabolism and almost always points back to a bad diet. So if you eat right by choosing the recipes from the clean eating diet and the metabolism boosting diet you will feel better, have more energy, and will ultimately be healthier.
If you want to set your body on the track to being healthier, the diet is the best place to start. If you are accustomed to eating a lot of junk food, you will have a fight on your hand when you switch your diet. Junk food is highly addictive, as addictive as smoking. Start the first three to four weeks of your new diet with a good weaning from the junk food. This will help you to avoid the very unpleasant side effects of possible moodiness, headaches, and very intense cravings for the junk food.
Start with a food journal. If you can, think back a week and write down everything you've eaten, how much you ate, and how you felt at the time. If this is not possible (who can remember what you ate 3 days ago?) then spend the first week eating as you normally do and record it all in the food journal. This will give you a good indication of your addiction to junk food. If you eat junk food at least once a day the chances are pretty high you have a slight addiction. If you eat it two or more times a day, you have a greater addiction. Taking the first three weeks to wean from the junk food will help you to have little to no withdrawal symptoms and greater success with the diet change.
If you have a big addiction to junk food start with eating it twice a day, if it's a small addiction, go to once a day in the consumption of it. For five days, eat a snack of junk food either once or twice. For the second five days, either go to once a day or skip a day. The next five days, skip a day or two between eating it. Keep on putting a day between when you eat the junk food until you are eating it only once a week. By then you should be weaned from it and you should no longer crave it as you did in the beginning.
Also, when you begin the diet incorporate plenty of water. Water is a great internal as well as external cleanser so it goes very well with the clean eating diet. Water helps to keep us hydrated. Without water, we would perish. Drinking water also helps to boost our energy levels so it goes well with the metabolism boosting diet. Take your weight in pounds and divide it by two. That is the number of ounces of water you should drink a day. If you weigh 200 pounds, you would divide that by two and come up with 100 pounds. Convert that to ounces and a person weighing 200 pounds would need to drink 100 ounces of water a day.
Water is best if drunk in its pure form. It is okay to call coffee, tea, and even juice water, but only if it makes up a small percentage of the complete daily intake of water.
Section 1: Eating Clean Diet
What is the eating clean diet?
The eating clean diet also called, clean eating diet or the eat clean diet, is a very simple and basic diet. It is the absence of anything chemical including processed flours and sugars, chemicals and preservatives, artificial dyes and flavors. It is food in its most natural state, the way it comes off the vine or plant or tree. It is food that you pick up at the produce section or from the freezer. You can find this food in the canned goods as well. Clean food diet is exactly what it sounds like.
Why Eat Clean Foods?
Eating foods on this diet puts you back to as close to nature as possible eating foods in their natural state without any processing or unnecessary ingredients. The body
