About this ebook
An intrepid explorer climbs down, down, down the page as he voyages through the center of the earth in this unusually inventive comic adventure.
Intrepid explorer Leo Geo is heading off on a mission into the unknown. With science as his sidekick, he intends to tunnel his way to the center of the earth. Of course, things never turn out quite the way you expect when you're burrowing your way through the earth's layers. Before long, Leo is forced to leave his tunneling machine behind, and he climbs, crawls, and falls to his destination while dodging giant centipedes, man-eating quadclops, and an evil army of subterranean malvisors bent on invading the surface. Kids will be drawn in by the unusual format of this inventive comic, following Leo as he climbs deeper and deeper into a very long and skinny book—and they may just learn a few things about geology as they go.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5First, I loved the illustrations. Incredibly well done, and there's a lot of it. The story itself is actually quite interesting, but the juxtaposition of science, with the fantasy world of the earth's core, plus a magical knife that cut everything seemed like a cop out when Leo Geo says multiple times that he is going to use Science to get him self out of the situation.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Leo Geo and His Miraculous Journey Through the Center of the Earth by Jon Chad has a long title and a long adventure — one that goes right through the center of Earth! Jon Chad mixes science fiction and science fact to create a memorable tween graphic novel.Leo Geo has a giant drill and he plans to ride it through to the center of the earth. Along the way he'll point out the sites. He'll see unusual formations, magma and some unexpected residents! As this is a book about digging, the reader is asked to turn the book on its side after the introduction. Thus most of the book is read like a flip book, making it awkward but fun to read.In terms of artistic style and whimsy Chad's artwork reminds me of Windsor McCay (Little Nemo). He uses a bold line and intricate details to flesh out the subterranean worlds.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Rated a bit higher than the story involves, because I liked the clever formatting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love Leo Geo! A fun blend of facts and fantasy of journeying to the center of the Earth. Also love the design of the book, very clever concept that was very well done, art and text. Great read for boys that are into science and science-fiction.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not for the vertically challenged reader.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Leo Geo (Leo, the geologist) heads on an adventure in the Earth to find the center. On his way he shares many facts about geology and science. But he also finds a lot of strange, dangerous creatures! Once he gets to the center he then decides to keep going all the way to the other side of Earth to Taipei!A fun, informative, adventuous book for children who love learning science facts. I think it's fun because it's a very narrow book. It's about a foot (12'') horizontally and 3 inches vertically but then you read it long ways. So you turn the book sideways and watch Leo travel down the page. I definitely recommend it for kids who love science, especially when studying the layers of the Earth. Very fun, very cute book!
