Yellow & Pink
Descrizione
Yellow & Pink is a witty picture book by William Steig, the creator of Shrek.
On a fine day, a thin, yellow puppet and a round, pink puppet sit in the sun. They wonder where they came from. Were they an accident of nature, created by a series of possible but improbable events? Did someone create them? They discuss their theories, and think they may have an answer. But just as they settle on a solution, a man arrives who raises new questions.
Praise for Yellow & Pink:
"One marvels at the expressiveness, the nearness to animation, of Steig's vibrant drawings." -The Washington Post Book World
"A comic fable that has more clout than the most fervent homily." -Publishers Weekly
"Illustrated with simple three-color drawings, this is a book that will delight adults as well as children and lead to some very interesting discussions!" -Children's Literature

- (3/5)A creative story about two wooden puppets discussing how they came into existence. Quite humorous and highly recommended!
- (3/5)Yellow and Pink is a book about two wooden figures that come alive and ponder some very deep questions. They contemplate and create explanations for their existence and creation. Children may have a difficult time remaining interested in the characters and mature themes.
- (4/5)Two wooden puppets one painted yellow one painted pink are lying on newspaper in the middle of a meadow. Soon they are discussing how they came to be. One takes the position of random accidents that caused them to evolve. The other is amazed at how wonderfully designed they are. This picture book concludes with a man picking up the puppet looking him over and saying, "Nice and drive."
- (3/5)Two wooden toys - a short, stout pink one, coincidentally named Pink, and a tall, straight yellow one, coincidentally named Yellow - find themselves one day left out to dry on newspaper in the countryside. They begin to wonder silently, and soon are openly questioning their entire existence: a bit unnerving to read about for two wooden toys, but in a way it's endearing. "Yellow and Pink" is definitely, in some way, William Steig's tribute to the Collodi's Pinocchio story that he loved so much as a child. This is not, however, one of Steig's most enjoyable books. The two toys spend much of the book engaged in some kind of scientific, philosophical debate about their creation
