Conneaut Lake Park illustrates the evolution of this lakeside resort with images of long-gone attractions such as the Hotel Elmwood, Temple of Music, Jungle Cruise, Fairyland Forest, and Wild Mouse. Recent favorites such as the Blue Streak, Tumble Bug, Ultimate Trip, and Devil s Den are also included.
Michael E. Costello
Michael E. Costello, a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, has been visiting Conneaut Lake Park since the mid-1980s. He co-produced a documentary about the park in 2001 and has worked as a ride operator. In 2002, he took a turn as the park mascot, Connie Otter. Costello maintains a Web site called Mike�s Historic Amusement Parks and designs the Conneaut Lake Park map.

INTRODUCTION
In the resort community of Conneaut Lake and on Pennsylvania’s largest natural lake lies a quaintly familiar amusement resort known as Conneaut Lake Park. Pleasure-seekers first started coming here in 1877, when a businessman named Aaron Lynce first owned the property. It was then known as Lynce’s Landing and offered a boat landing, a dance space, food, and livery services. In 1892, a visionary named Col. Frank Mantor saw potential for the property, purchased the adjacent McClure Farm, and found investors from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad who were interested in extending their railroad line to a newly formed resort. Exposition Park began as a permanent summer fair that offered athletic fields, convention facilities, restaurants, shops, a couple of primitive amusement rides, numerous hotels, cottages, and a bathhouse to accommodate freshwater
