Why Dictate?
Write Fast to Write Well
If you want to write more, you must learn to write fast. If you're getting started with writing, you should aim for at least 2,000 words a day. But if you want to be considered prolific, you should aim for 10,000 words a day. You can only hit that level when you trust what you write, when you put words on the page without hesitation, and when you enjoy the act of writing. You can develop these abilities by following the "free writing technique described in the classic book
Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within" by Natalie Goldberg.
Good writing requires iteration i.e. you review & revise to make it better, over and over again. But it all starts with a first draft. And the most important rule is to create the first draft quickly. Let the words out - don't hesitate, don't edit.
Raymond Chandler said "The faster I write the better my output. If I'm going slow I'm in trouble. It means I'm pushing the words instead of being pulled by them."
That’s a great image to keep in mind while writing. The first draft should be pulled out
of you. In order to do that, you need to convert your thoughts into written words as fast as
