Surviving Challenging Times: Faith Devotional
()
About this ebook

Introduction
deco line4.pngThis book is designed to be used as a weekly meditational, but it can also be used as a daily devotional if desired. The subjects shared are intended to build, strengthen and uplift the faith of the Believer as it was developed with the Christian Believer in mind.
To get the most out of this guide, an intimate relationship with God is encouraged. The Bible tells us that if iniquity is in our hearts God will not hear us, and this means that if we are living a sinful life, God will not respond to our faith in prayer. Matthew 5:24 tells us also, that if we have anything against anyone, we are to leave our gifts at the altar, find those who have offended us (even though they are the ones who have done us wrong) and make it right with them before offering our gifts to Him; it is that serious.
The Bible tells us again, that to every man was given the measure of faith and this means that every person has faith to some extent, but faith loses its potency when it is not used or when it is used inappropriately. Before you begin to believe God for anything, ensure that your life is in alignment with the will of God by seeking God first, so that your desires may be in alignment with His (But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you
-Matthew 6:33). This must be the principle upon which your faith is established and this is principle upon which this devotional was written please keep this in mind after reading each devotional). Seek God first, then allow Him to direct you and this includes with what you are to pray about.
When our faith is lined up with God’s will, we will get more results, as James chapter three verse four, will be avoided ("Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts").
It takes faith to exchange your desires for God’s desires, so this is a good place to begin. Learn to accept and embrace the things of God, making it your own. You may not always like the revealed plans of God for your life initially; you may not always be in agreement with it, but you will later discover that as a divine exchange takes place gradually, God’s will, will become your personal desire as you learn to embrace His plans.
Faith Devotional is designed to stimulate the heart of the Believer for a closer walk with God. This is not a complete study on the subject of faith, but rather personal insights that will assist the Christian Believer in discovering God while transforming their outlook on life and building faith in God. Further reflections are encouraged. Do read, reflect, meditate and pray after reading each devotional guide.
Week 1
WHAT IS FAITH
deco line4.png"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).
The Old Testament is filled with stories of faith, survival, victories, trials and more. The deliverance of the children of Israel – God’s chosen people – from slavery into the promise, is one example.
The Israelites were promised, a land flowing with milk and honey, a land they never knew, apart from what was revealed to them by God through Moses. This Promised Land was never seen; only heard of, from a God they had never encountered personally, except through witnessing the experiences of their leader, first hand.
The moment the Israelites were delivered out of the hands of Pharaoh, their journey towards a land unknown began. This land was not yet seen, but still they journeyed towards a land unknown.
Their story is somewhat similar to our lives today. Our future is predicted, but it is not seen. There may be things that are uncertain and questions unanswered, but this is where our faith becomes crucial. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If it is seen, faith may not be required.
Surely it takes faith to believe for the unknown. It takes faith to stand on the Word of God and to declare the unseen in the presence of unfavorable circumstances. But the Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith acts as a bridge between the natural and the spiritual, as faith opens doors in the spiritual realm. Faith activates the supernatural, making the impossible become possible. Faith touches God; it is the fuel to our prayers. All you have to do, is to position yourself in obedience to the Word of God and believe that you will receive whatever God says you will, but also be prepared
