About this ebook

Believers are baptised in water in the name of Jesus Christ but He baptises with the Holy Ghost Himself – He delegates water baptism but not Holy Ghost baptism. Ministers sometimes lay their hands on believers so they can be filled with the Holy Ghost but it is Jesus Christ who does the actual baptising.
Jesus Christ did not baptise His disciples in water presumably because He knew that this was not His priority – His assignment is to baptise believers with the Holy Ghost. He did not allow the preparatory acts of baptism in water by John the Baptist and His disciples to distract Him. He focused on the “baptism beyond”.

    About the Author

    INTRODUCTION

There are many revelations about Jesus Christ the Son of God in the Scriptures, which enable us to have access to His power and grace. John the Baptist’s testimonies about Jesus are some of the most reliable revelations about Him because Jesus testified that John was a credible prophet and witness – Jesus declared that John was more than a prophet and that up until the time He came to the earth there was no one greater.

7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

    Matthew 11:7-13

Some of the profound revelations John the Baptist made about Jesus Christ were:

    - Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God.

John the Baptist was spiritually deep enough to reveal that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

    John 1:29

    - Jesus is the prophesied Christ.

Everybody had been expecting the Christ but even the religious scholars could not reveal His identity. John the Baptist was the unexpected prophet who revealed the Christ.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

    John 3:28

    - Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom.

Jesus Christ is the bridegroom of the Church. He nurtures the Church and the Church exists to please and glorify Him.

29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

    John 3:29

    - Jesus Christ is above all.

Jesus Christ has to be above all in order to be the Saviour, healer and baptiser with the Holy Ghost.

31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

    John 3:31

    - Jesus Christ has the Spirit without measure.

The enormous nature of Jesus Christ’s assignment demanded that He had the Spirit in measureless volumes. He could not afford to be depleted in power and grace.

32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

    John 3:32-34

    - Jesus Christ is the giver of everlasting life.

The best blessing Jesus Christ gives people is the gift of everlasting life. John the Baptist identified Him as the giver of everlasting life.

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

    John 3:35-36

    - Jesus Christ is the Baptiser with the Holy Ghost.

One of the greatest revelations John the Baptist, Jesus’ forerunner, gave was that Jesus Christ
