About this ebook

The Abraham Allegory shows that when God changed Abram's name to Abraham, it was really a deeper picture of God changing His own Old Covenant name , Jehovah, to the New Covenant name of Jesus. God tells us in Galatians that Sarah is a picture of the New Covenant. She is also a picture of the New Jerusalem which is The Church which is the Bride of Christ. This name change is also how Jesus defeated the Devil. Don't you remember that famous portion of the Bible in Isaiah that says of Jesus "and He shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace?" Now it all makes sense. Jesus is the Great I AM, God manifest in the flesh.

The Abraham Allegory - Joe A. White, Jr.

    yourself!

    Introduction

This book is not intended to hurt anyone, but instead to shed light on certain things. Furthermore, if I was only 99.999% sure that the basic tenet of this book was true, (Jesus is the only God) then I would not have it published. It has to be 100% true and that is why I can stand on it and guarantee it.

God never changes. God says that clearly about Himself and He doesn’t. But, if God has always intended to do something, it’s not a change; He’s just going with the plan. An example of this is when Jesus came as a man. That was a change, but God had always intended to do this and wrote about it, so God never really changed.

Before I go any further, I want to tell my friends that I would not publish this book unless the Bible was absolutely crystal clear that Jesus is God Almighty and there is none beside Him. It is not what we think that matters, it is what is written that matters. I know that people will ridicule me and I know that it flies in the face of ‘orthodox’ Christianity, so it must be obvious that to me that Jesus is more than just ‘the son’.

God could only do certain things as a man, born of a woman, and it was always His intent to come to earth as a man. The Abraham (Name Change) Allegory, where Abram’s name was changed to Abraham, is just one way that God told us this while keeping it secret from Satan.

There is essentially only one name for God in the Old Covenant, YHWH (we usually say Jehovah or Yahweh), and essentially only one name for God in the New Covenant, Jesus. This book shows that Jehovah changed his own name to Jesus at the New Covenant primarily in order to defeat the Devil. God said that He has written a great mystery (which will be news to most Christians), but then He immediately explains it; God came in the flesh. God wrote a mystery, The BEST ONE!

    Three Simple Questions

I would like to see if you can answer a few simple questions before you read this book and maybe you will revisit them afterwards. Here are the questions: First Question: (I like this one) If there is an eternal son of God, why isn’t there an eternal mother in heaven? I heard that from a young boy at camp and it’s a real good question. Second: Jesus said to baptize in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but according to almost every reliable source including the Bible, the first Christians like Peter and Paul always baptized in the Name of Jesus. Why did they do that? Third: If the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, why doesn’t He have a real name? Okay, let’s ask a fourth. Why is there so much praise to Jesus compared to the Father and the Holy Spirit?

These questions are easily answered by mature Christians who have been baptized in the name of Jesus, but I think that they would be almost impossible to answer by honest Christians who are baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, i.e., The Trinity. If you don’t know the answers to all of these questions, then you really need to read this book. If you do know these answers, you will probably want to read this book.

    But God Never Changes

In the Old Testament there is only one real proper name for God that distinguishes him from all others and that name is YHWH though we usually say Yahweh or Jehovah (it’s a language thing) and only these would suffice to identify the only real name of God in the Old Testament. If you just say God, then Muslims think that you are talking about Allah who is definitely not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, despite what our politicians say.

There is only one God who is brave enough to write a holy book over thousands of years and tell how everything started and how it all ends with amazing continuity from beginning to end. Technically, the name for that God is in the Old Testament and His name is/was YHWH and it was used over 6,500 times in the Old Testament. Rest assured that God loves His own name!

Now sometimes He is called Elohim or Adonai but those are not really names and we will discuss those later. But did you know that the name Jehovah (or YHWH) is not in the New Testament at all?

For all of the Baptists out there, I heard Dr. Adrian Rogers make a startling statement. I heard him on the radio as I came home from work one night; I knew his distinguished baritone voice, but I had never really listened to him before, though he had my full attention that night. In his website which still goes on despite his passing in 2005, it says that he was the three-time president of the Southern Baptist Convention. With 16 million members, the SBC was the largest protestant denomination at that time.

Dr. Rogers said in his resonant voice over the radio, Did you know that the name Jehovah is not in the New Testament? Do you know why? Because Jesus is our Jehovah! WOW! He was absolutely right.

Why isn’t YHWH in the New Testament? Did He just want to glorify His son Jesus so much that He just didn’t want to put His own name in, or did He just forget? No, that is not it at all.

There is an Old Covenant and there is a new Covenant and God had intended from the beginning to change His name with the New Covenant. Jesus is really the only proper name that is used by God in the New Testament.

God had planned to change His name from the beginning so that He could trick Satan into putting Jesus to death. Satan would have never attempted to put Jehovah to death, but since Satan thought that Jesus was only the son of God, he put Jesus to death. When Satan did, Jesus got the keys to Death and Hell and won the victory for us!

I’ll bet that some of you are interested but have already thought, "but God never changes!" Good for you. God always does everything legally and above board so here’s the way it works.

If God has ever planned to do something, and then He did it at a later time, it is not a change. He just has always planned to do it. It is not a change to God. When Almighty God has decided to do something … it’s as good as done. He is not like a man who might have his plans changed or change them himself. When God has absolutely decided to do something, it’s finished.

Bible lovers will say God’s word is forever settled in heaven. AMEN! An example I like to use is when God came as a man, Jesus; that was a change, but not really. Why? It was because He had always planned it, and He said that He was going to do it. Again, He will always tell us important things in His Bible before it happens.

For example, Jesus proved that He was God by His miracles but in the future, there will be a very bad, very powerful religious leader who will bring down fire from heaven. Most people in the world will see that miracle and follow that false prophet, but if you know your Bible you will know that he is just a really bad guy who is helping the antichrist.

The Abraham Allegory: Why God Changed His Name to Jesus is a picture of God changing His own name. Jesus is our father, the church is our mother, and we are the children born of faith. This is just one way that God has shown us this so if your interest is piqued, then read on!

God Said He Would Change His Name

There is a verse that says that God will not do anything without telling His prophets and you need to really understand that it needs to be a ‘check and balance’ for your theology, your doctrine. (7) Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. (Amos 3:7 KJV]). This will keep you from chasing rabbits or red herrings. I will say later in the book that if the Trinity was true then God would explain it in the Bible, (He didn’t).

Likewise, I cannot just say that God changed His name unless it is in the Bible. Where is it? It is in Isaiah, chapters 7-9, and Matthew 1. God could have made this Bible easy but He didn’t! He could have just given us the Ten Commandments and been done with it but He didn’t want to make it easy. He wants to find people that want Him!

In these chapters of Isaiah an account is given about Rezin and Pekah starting in 7:1 and ending in 9:11. Nestled in between the pages of this account are two places where God talks about Immanuel (Jesus); first in being born to a virgin as a sign. The word translated as virgin could possibly also mean a young girl but since it is noted as being a sign, she must be a virgin. 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isa 7:14 KJV) The Bible says in Matthew 1 that this is Jesus.

Secondly, there is another verse in Isaiah about Immanuel that I really don’t understand. Then in this same story about Rezin we have Isaiah 9:6, one of the most famous verses in the Bible and here it talks about that same Immanuel though His name is not mentioned. A song entitled, For Unto Us a Child is Born from Handel’s Messiah is based upon this which builds up to the Hallelujah Chorus.

This resplendent Hallelujah Chorus is so stirring that the King of England stood up when he heard it and audiences still stand today! Sorry for the tears there folks.) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isa 9:6 KJV)

These verses, all in one account in the Bible, says that Jesus would be born but they gave Him a prophetic, not actual name. Also that name would not be Jehovah, but ‘Jehovah with us’. Immanuel literally means ‘God with us’, the el meaning God. (Do you have an el in your name?) Then it talks about a child being born, and we know that it is the same Emmanuel from the New Testament, but that this child would be called (in the future) the Holy Spirit (Counselor), the Prince of Peace (we all know who that is), the mighty God (the whole Godhead), and THE everlasting Father, (not AN everlasting Father.) That is where God has told us in no uncertain terms that He would change His name in the future. Again, GOD IS SAYING HIS NAME WILL BE CHANGED!

So the God who never changes said that His name would change, it was His plan all along; so folks, the way God sees it, it is not a change. It’s not too hard either! God said that He would come as a man and He would have a new name.

Let us finish with the account of where He actually gets His new name. This gives me so much respect for Joseph, the husband of Mary and we see that Immanuel translated from the Hebrew becomes Emmanuel translated from the Greek.

    (19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just [man], and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. (20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. (21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, (23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: (25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. (Matthew 1:19-25 KJV)

    First Things First

Getting prepared to understand the Allegory

I have found that if you want to teach someone something at an advanced level, it works only if they have a rock-solid understanding of the fundamentals. If they don’t have the basics down, they will be confused and tossed about by everything that they hear or read, thus actually slowing their learning process down.

Here is the first fundamental taught to the Israelites, there is one God only, and His name is Jehovah. The first of the Ten Commandments is this:

2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:2 KJV.)

So the first commandment said that God was named Jehovah (LORD in all caps in the King James Version indicates that the real word there is YHWH). They were to worship no other God. That name was simply Jehovah, not Jesus and Jehovah. Don’t worry, because I will show you that Jesus is the only God later, and in no uncertain terms.

Next we have the Shema and the Shema is so important that
