When it comes to the vegan diet and lifestyle, there isn’t enough information available and the information that we do get is oftentimes incorrect or fails to paint the full picture. As a result, these misconceptions have become truth in many eyes which can easily stand in the way of health. Most of what we know comes from companies and organizations which have a stake in the market, making it hard to trust the information they give us. Think for instance of the way pharmaceuticals tend to promote certain products, not always because they are good, but because they sell more and bring profit. The same thing has happened in the food industry and it is evident in the lack of knowledge and misconceptions about certain diet options.
Living in today’s world requires a certain level of cynicism; you have to think for yourself and go beyond the surface of what we are shown. If we trust advertising, we might not always receive the truth about products, so we have to develop a certain level of cynicism to separate the truly good things from things that have a promoted goodness
