About this ebook
Gilly Soloman has been reduced to a mothering machine, taking care of everyone and everything except herself. Burned-out and exhausted by the endless days of crying children and menial tasks, Gilly doesn't immediately consider the consequences when she's carjacked. With a knife to her throat, her first thought is that she'll finally get some rest. Someone can save her for a change.
But salvation isn't so forthcoming. Stranded in a remote, snowbound cabin with this stranger, hours turn to days, days into weeks. As time forges a fragile bond between them, she learns her captor is not the lunatic she first believed, but a human being whose wasted life has been shaped by secrets and tragedy. Yet even as their connection begins to foster trust, Gilly knows she must never forget he's still a man teetering on the edge, one who's not about to let her leave. And she cannot stay.
Megan Hart
When she was in third grade, Megan Hart fell in love for the first time. Not with a boy (that would wait until fourth grade), but with a story. Homecoming by Ray Bradbury leaped out at her from the pages of a library book, and she tumbled head over heels. In the dark ages, before the days of photocopiers, the only way for her to keep a copy of this story was to copy it out by hand so she could read it over and over again. Something funny happened, though, as she carefully printed it on lined notebook paper. She made "improvements." At age twelve, reading Stephen King's The Stand for the first time one memorable summer, it occurred to her that people really did write books for a living. That's when she decided to become an author. Megan began writing short fantasy, horror and science fiction before graduating to novel-length romances. In 1998, now a stay-home mom, Megan took up writing in earnest, attending her first writing conference and getting her first request for a full manuscript. In 2002 she saw her first book in print, and she hasn't stopped since. She's published in almost every genre of romantic fiction, including historical, contemporary, romantic suspense, romantic comedy, futuristic, fantasy and perhaps most notably, erotic. She also writes non-erotic fantasy and science fiction, as well as continuing to occasionally dabble in horror. Megan's goal is to continue writing spicy, thrilling love stories with a twist. Her dream is to have a movie made of every one of her novels, starring herself as the heroine and Keanu Reeves as the hero. Megan lives in the deep, dark woods with her husband and two monsters...er...children. I love to hear from readers! Please contact me at: readinbed AT gmail DOT com

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received this book from NetGalley as an ARC. I have to say that this is not the kind of book that I would normally read. I was honestly expecting a cheesy paranormal romance novel with lots of steamy scenes and no plot. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Graham sets this vampire novel during the American Civil War and there is quite a bit of historical content in this novel. I wouldn't say that Graham goes in depth about the war but at the same time I found that I had never read anything quite like this. A book that combines historical fiction and romance. As a history minor in university, I found that I was intrigued by this spin on history. I liked the direction that the book was going in and for the most part it kept me entertained and interested. In fact when the book was done I was left wanting a bit more. I almost felt that the ending was rushed a bit. The author could have taken the time to develop the plot and add more to it. When I finished reading the book I just felt that there was something missing. I really liked the characters in the book and I also would have liked to know a bit more about Megan Fox's relationship with her mother and her father. Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed this book and I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was honestly one of the weirdest books I have read in awhile. I picked up 'Precious and Fragile Things' expecting what I usually read by Megan Hart, hot and steamy. Instead I got a crazy guy and a slightly-off mother who are unwillingly stuck together in the middle of the PA mountains.
I literally spent the entire book waiting for the sexy, it is my fault, I should have read the jacket I guess, I am slightly relieved after finishing the book there was no sex, that would have made this book completely unreadable. Both Todd and Gilly are both characters I couldn't relate to and I didn't even really like them. That being said, I had to finish the book so I could find out what happens. The emotions in this book are well written but they were all just messed up. I found myself thinking "What the f***?" quite often.
That is really all I have to say. Maybe if I were a mother or someone with severe psychological trauma I could have understood this book better, but alas, I am neither. I just didn't like this one. If you read this your head will spin, which way however, is up to you. I commend Ms. Hart on a well written tale, this one was just not for me.
