About this ebook

We often take the Sun for granted. It works around the clock, day and night, night and day. Let me put it another way. If in the blink of an eye it should decide to visit another solar system, go out for lunch or take a quick nap, all life on earth – including you and me – would go POOF! Now, have you ever even thought about this? Really thought about it? Probably not ... Sarah Doboloff, a shy 12-year old with a brilliant imagination, is chosen by Sola Rainbow to spread a message of enlightenment and unconditional love to the world. The inspiration that young Sarah receives from Sola leads her on a fearless adventure that will ultimately decide the fate of life on planet earth.

    Prologue

We often take the Sun for granted. It works around the clock, day and night, night and day. Let me put it another way.

If in the blink of an eye it should decide to visit another solar system, go out for lunch or take a quick nap, all life on earth – including you and me – would go POOF!

Now, have you ever even thought about this? Really thought about it?

    Probably not.

It’s a pretty scary thought. Besides, what could be more important for Mr. Sun to do than to give life to the planet earth — to plants and animals, to me and to you.

Well, just in case he thinks of something, I think it would be wise to find a way to show appreciation and give thanks for his beams of life. But how? What would the Sun really want from us?

I’m afraid to say that when my parents work day and night, night and day, to pay the rent, buy my food, clean the house, mow the lawn, prepare the food, darn my socks, take me to school, gymnastics, soccer and ballet, and then pick me up on the very same day, I’m afraid to remember what they usually say. They usually say, I need a day off!

Well this story is about the Sun’s day off and my very special friend, Sola Rainbow.

My name is Sarah and I am 12 years old and an only child. I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the United States of America. I am in the sixth grade. My Daddy is a very famous astronomer and a full professor at Harvard University. When I tell people that, they usually pucker their lips and go, OOO.

My Dad is famous because he was the first to discover a certain comet that will make a close encounter with our planet in a couple of weeks. He is such an expert on this comet that they actually named it after him. It is called. Doboloff’s Comet. That’s our last name. Dad’s full name is Dr. Richard Doboloff. I’m glad they didn’t call it Richard’s Comet. This way, simply by being his daughter and having the same last name, my friends think it’s partially mine. He also predicted the exact date and time of its close encounter with the Earth. He says there will be no danger to the planet, just a unique opportunity for us to observe its tail of fire. My dad is giving a global press conference at the United Nations next week about the event. He said that Mom and I are going to be with him at the conference for the family touch, like politicians do when they’re campaigning for office.

My Dad also writes books about the nature of the universe and what he calls universal laws.

Even though I’m in the sixth grade, I’m actually on an eighth grade reading level. But when I open up his books, they look like they are written in a different language. Probably Martian. His students are probably very impressed and say OOO. I just say HUH?

Well, in terms of my Daddy’s special topic, I have my own ideas based on what I’ve learned at the planetarium and by noticing some incredible things in nature — also, based on some simple yet wonderful thoughts and feelings I’ve had going way back to when I was three years old. Before I tell you about my special friend, Sola, and what I have learned from her, let me tell you some of the simple thoughts I’ve had on what my Daddy calls "the nature
