About this ebook
Neil Sedaka once sang that breaking up was hard to do… He was right!
“Where did it all go wrong?” We ask ourselves. “How did it fail?” “Who was to blame?” “Could we have saved it?” “Should I try to get them back?” Silent questions, followed by more questions, as we wallow in our seemingly never-ending pain, self-pity and confusion…
I wrote The Break Up Survival Guide when I was in this place and it helped me! Opened my eyes and offered the answers I’d been seeking so desperately. And now I offer it to you in the hope that you, too, can benefit as I have.
Here comes the Sun. Said George Harrison.
And I could finally see it too! I knew what he meant after months of darkness. The Break Up Survival Guide was a therapeutic exercise designed to help me. A deeply personal meditation. But it helped me see the light! I can now move on. Try again. And hopefully get it right…
Read my book today and tomorrow you’ll be wiser and less troubled.

Break Up Survival Guide - David Watson
Introduction
LOVE IS A FEELING we all desire. Anyone who has been in love will know the feeling of sitting next to someone and feeling great. For no other reason than the way a person can make you feel about yourself. It is euphoric...
When it goes wrong.... It’s devastating.
I wrote this booklet because I have experienced the highs and the lows; survived one of lives major challenges and am able to put this down into words to help others.
My personal nightmare was a feeling of vulnerability. This brought about a weakness I had never felt before and for some reason a sense of shame and humiliation too.
It took a long time before I noticed that friends often came to me when their relationships had ended. Some friends were a train wreck; others pulled themselves out of the wreckage and became better for the experience.
I began to notice two types of people: survivors and victims’. At a glance both are the same with no discernible differences. I am still amazed by the ones you would put money on falling apart who turn out to be not quite as meek as people reckoned. They have an inner steal. Which is unbreakable but for a few scratches and dents. Some of the most well adjusted people fall apart and never recover or worse still convince themselves they have as they party on; pretending all is well while they slowly self destruct.
The ones who acknowledge that they were in love and just how much the breakup hurts will come out on top. Their honesty is possibly their salvation. If you are honest about the short falls you cut through the false hopes and begin realising the truth.
I did not write The Breakup Survival Guide with the intention of helping you win someone back or to stay sitting in the corner waiting for a Guardian Angel to come along and make everything better. I couldn’t do that it wasn’t my experience. I have written about how I pulled myself together, witnessing friends do the same and noticing the familiar pattern.
Together this is useful advice.
Breakup Survival Guide
You met someone, you fell in love. No one else understood what you two saw in each other; how or why you connected but the two of you. You knew what made each other giggle; you had your little secrets. There are things our best friends don’t know about us, but your other half they knew.
The debate has gone on for centuries. The finest poets and song writers have tried to explain what love means. I will add to this, when it is good, there is this person who lights you up and on a bad day, you come home and sitting on the sofa snuggled up,
