In this book you will get the step by step progressions of these (and seven other) offenses that is designed to get the ball inside against a zone defense. Whereas, many zone offenses rely on good perimeter shooting, this book will show you how to effectively screen a zone in a way that gets the ball inside. Effective Zone Offenses For The High School Coach - Steve Biddison
Introduction
Early in my coaching career, my teams often struggled when we faced a good zone defense. At that time, I did not really understand the concepts to beating a good zone. My thoughts then were if our opponent played zone, we either had to beat them down the court for a lay-up or we had to be able to knock down the outside shots. But after a decade of not understanding how to effectively beat zones, I learned some of the basic concepts as well as offenses that took advantage of zones. Now, my teams love it when a team goes zone against us. Where in years past, we looked to take three point shots against a zone, now we are confident that we can get either lay-ups or very short shots in the lane.
In this playbook, you will learn some of the basic concepts of all good zone offenses. A proper understanding of these concepts alone will give your team the basic tools to beat any zone defense. In addition, the seven quick hitting offenses will give your team a repertoire of ways to attack the zone defenses. Quite honestly, my teams usually did not have to run too many of these offenses. We had two staple zone offenses that were so successful that we usually pulled the opponents out of their zone. But for those teams that insisted on staying zone against us, we employed the remainder of our zone
