      है आँखों में

      Meri shaam bahut

      मेरी शाम बहुत

      Na yeh fizaa na yeh hawa

      न यह फ़िज़ा न यह हवा

      नदिया किनारा

      Zehar meeTtha yeh peena

      ज़हर मीठा यह पीना

      Charaag andheroN meiN

      चराग़ अंधेरों में

      Chhaayi hai phir aisi kaali ghaTaa

      छाई है फिर ऐसी काली घटा

      Chhupaaoge kahaaN tak aap

      छुपाओगे कहाँ तक आप

      tumhaari chhupti nazar se

      तुम्हारी छुपती नज़र से

      Jo ban kar hamsafar tum saath

      जो बन कर हमसफ़र तुम साथ

      Zakhm aansoo dho gaye haiN

      ज़ख्म आँसू धो गये हैं

      Pilaate raho mai milaa kar

      पिलाते रहो मय मिला कर

      Na jaane aaj kyuN begaanavaar

      न जाने आज क्यूँ बेगानावार

      Agartum pyaas hoti

      अगर तुम प्यास होती

      Kabhi chhoTe se purzoN par

      कभी छोटे से पुर्ज़ों पर

      YuN hi saaqi se yaarane rahenge

      यूँ ही साक़ी से याराने रहेंगे

      dekho aankhoN meiN Daal kar

      देखो आँखों में डाल कर

      Hai charchaa shehar meiN

      है चर्चा शहर में

      Kabhi sochtaa huN visaale-shab

      कभी सोचता हूँ विसाले-शब

      tarq-e-ta’alluq pe jo khat mere

      तर्के-ताअल्लुक पे जो खत मेरे

      Jo aaj lab-e-laalaaN se tere

      जो आज लबे-लालाँ से तेरे

      लट उलझी सुलझा जा

      Woh aah bhi kuchh majboor thi

      वोह आह भी कुछ मजबूर थी

      दर्दे-दिल जब उठा जिगर में

      आँख नम हो गई

      Sheikh ki har naseehat ki
