I hold a BA in Theatre from Seton Hill University and a MA in Theatre from the University of Denver. Years ago, when still single, I acted in and directed plays in the Philadelphia area but suffered the fate of many artists, struggling financially. So I entered a career in sales. But, my creative spirit needed to express itself and several years, ago, I started writing historical romances. I discovered that writing historical romances is my passion. I love weaving historical personalities into my plot, interacting with my fictional characters. Recently, I began writing historical mysteries/intrigue and again, love the aspect of interspersing historical fact and personalities into my story line.I am married to a loving and supportive man with a Greek heritage (which influenced a couple of my novels) and we live in southern New Jersey.

Prologue
England, 1854
The giggles of two little girls echoed throughout the foyer, presumably originating from the front parlor, causing Raphael Wells, Viscount Templeton, to halt his descent down the central staircase and roll his brown eyes in exasperation. An errant blonde curl kissed his forehead, touching his right dark eyebrow.
Raphael adored his younger sister who possessed a shy and sweet disposition. But his patience was truly tried by her best friend, Gabrielle Monet Taylor, who was an inquisitive, precocious child, forever asking questions and punctuating every answer given with even more questions. And if her incessant talking was not irritating enough, the adulation in her eyes when she looked at Raphael crated on his nerves.
Raphael had no doubt that one of the giggling voices belonged to Gabrielle and he hoped that he could quickly slip into his father’s study before being detected by the annoying child. Slowly, he tiptoed down the remaining stairs, cringing each time the wooden steps creaked beneath his footfall. Inching around the curved banister, he continued to softly tread toward the rear of the lengthy hallway.
Why are you tiptoeing, Raphael?
a high-pitched voice shrilly asked.
Raphael nearly groaned aloud as he froze in mid-step. His efforts had been for naught as the person he wished to avoid was now addressing him. Turning to face the child, he grimaced at her near proximity. She was nearly atop his polished boots with her neck stretched and tilted head leaning back with chin held high as if in so doing she could elongate her tiny body to his height of five foot eleven inches.
I did not wish to disturb you and Amanda. You were obviously enjoying yourselves, playing in the front parlor where incidentally you should not be playing. Why are you not in the nursery or in Amanda’s bedchamber?
We are not babies to be locked away in the nursery. We are young ladies and can enjoy tea in the front parlor if we so choose. The governess is with us, also enjoying a spot of tea. Would you like to join us?
She batted her eyelids, flirtatiously, which appeared more comical than alluring.
Raphael nearly laughed aloud at the preposterous notion that this skinny, freckled child in short skirts and petticoat was a ‘young lady acting flirtatious’ but he controlled the urge. No, thank you. Please go back to your tea party.
Raphael mimed for her to return with a wave of his hands as if he were shooing off chickens.
Gabrielle did not move. She simply cocked her head over her boney right shoulder as she peered intently at Raphael. Where are you going? I wish to join you.
I think not. I have work to do in my father’s study and do not wish to be disturbed.
Raphael turned to make his exit, but the child tagged along, walking slightly behind him with tiny steps to stay apace his wide strides.
Oh, I will not disturb you, Raphael. I will be as quiet as a church mouse.
I doubt that you possess the ability to remain silent.
Raphael abruptly stopped and Gabrielle’s bent head awkwardly bumped into his posterior.
Oh, but I can do anything I set my mind to do…be it ever so hard. Being silent is most difficult for me but I can do it.
Come enjoy some tea, Gabby,
a disembodied child’s voice called from the front parlor.
Raphael turned with a frown etched on his handsome face as he looked down on Gabrielle. Gabby is the perfect nickname for you as you never stop talking.
Gabrielle grinned, impishly. Yes, my father says the very same thing. Does your father tease you on your scowl for you are always scowling?
Raphael crossed his arms against his muscular chest as his frown deepened into the very scowl of which Gabrielle referred. I only scowl around annoying chatterboxes such as you are.
"I think not. I have often watched you when you were unaware and have determined that you scowl quite often. Why is that? Are you forever
