Introduction.
Over my 40 years of teaching Science, Mathematics and Reading, I have developed a series of Learning Tips that can help you learn. Each of the tips is based on current research and theory of how the human brain works and how learning takes place.
They have been variously known as Mr T’s Tips, Terrey’s Tip of the Week, or with my more familiar senior classes, Tezza’s Tips!
I usually put the tip on the board at the beginning of the week. When each class is finishing the first lesson of the week, I explain in a two minute talk, why the tip works.
Let me just briefly explain why your learning will be faster and better with these tips. Learning occurs in one part of your brain and thinking and knowing things takes place in another. For simplicity, I have called these the Learning Brain and the Knowing Brain. The Learning Brain is most easily accessed through the senses.
Another key idea is that the brain produces electronic waves of different speeds. Slower, calming Alpha Waves allow the Learning Brain and the Knowing Brain to connect. When connected learning can be very fast.
There are two ways you will benefit from these Learning Tips..
1. You will increase the use of your senses to get information directly to your Learning Brain.
2. You will increase the Alpha Waves in your brain to connect the Learning and Knowing Brains.
The result for you will be that your rate of learning will increase beyond what you ever thought possible and you will remember what you have learnt!
You can find out more about why these tips work, by reading some of the references at the end of the book.

Getting Started
To use these tips, read and use one of the tips each week of the school year, just like I do with my classes.
Over time, you will continue to use tips from previous weeks and gradually build up your skills in learning. You will see your results increase very quickly.
Read each tip, make a small poster of it and
