Bid or pitch
An informal name for an RFT, RFP, RFQ, RFI or Capability Statement document.
Government bid
This is a bid to carry out a specific piece of work for a government, or to be on the preferred supplier panel. Governments release bids either by department, by level of government (federal, state, local), or by piece of work. Government bids are usually regulated for anti–corruption, which means it is particularly important to follow the process precisely.
Corporate bid
All other bids (other than government) fall into the category of ‘corporate bid’. The process is determined by the individual company and can take whatever form the buyer organisation wants. Corporate bids can be run by the procurement side of the business, or the business unit for which the service is required. For example, the legal department might run the bid to
