Uncle Vanya
by one of the most admired Russian playwright Anton Chekov was first published in 1897.
The play was first premiered in 1899 at the Moscow Art Theatre. The play was directed by Konstantin Stanislavski.

Vanya and Astrov happen to be two friends. Vanya is the brother of the Professor’s late first wife, and Astrov is a local doctor. Both of them are highly attracted towards Yelena, in fact, they are simply mesmerized by her spell.
Vanya and Astrov have been living in the rural area and they feel exhilarated to find Yelena there.
Sonya is the Professor’s daughter by his late first wife. She has worked with Vanya to keep the estate running.
After the arrival of Yelena, she begins to suffer from the awareness of her own lack of charm and beauty. He happens
