Self-esteem is something probably everyone wants. Self-esteem is something everyone definitely needs. We want self-esteem because it increases our chance of finding happiness in life and makes it possible to cope with life’s inevitable challenges and disappointments. We all need self-esteem because nothing is as important to psychological and emotional well-being. Self-esteem affects how we see the world and our place in it, as well as everything we think, say and do.
You probably wouldn’t be surprised to learn that self-esteem also affects how other people in the world see us and treat us. Self-esteem affects the choices we make in life and it affects our ability to both give and receive love. Most importantly perhaps, it affects our ability to take action to change things that challenge us and need to be changed.
