STORY SUMMARY
Even after three years, Prissie Pomeroy’s guardian angel understood only part of what it meant to watch over one precious life. The rest he learned on the day he almost lost her. In this companion story to the Threshold Series, scars are bared, fears begin and end, and angels fall.
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an apple blossom?" Ephron asked.
The two Guardians sitting atop the Pomeroys’ barn traded a long look over their teammate’s head. Taweel’s expression pleaded for mercy, and his apprentice took pity. With a bemused smile that stretched the long scar running down his right cheek, Tamaes replied, No. Have you?
Oh, yes.
The Observer’s green eyes took on a dreamy quality. Omri sat up and stretched his translucent wings with a whir that ruffled the tufts of Taweel’s thick, black hair. The little yahavim blinked his faceted eyes and hummed inquiringly.
Tamaes’s lips quirked. Did you think we were talking about you, Omri?
The tiny angel who never strayed far from Taweel gave his long yellow ponytail a flip, then dove for cover as another member of their Flight rushed up from behind. Milo threw his wings wide as he spun to face them, his bare feet sliding across old shingles as he braked.
Ephron laughed lightly. Are all Messengers in such a hurry?
Usually. Especially if they’re carrying good news!
To the two warriors, Milo said, It’s that time of the rotation: the changing of the Guardians.
While Taweel and Tamaes stood, unfurling their wings, Ephron asked, "In what sense is this news good?"
Milo replied, "While those two stalk the perimeter, it’s my turn to show you around! A handful of us are gathering in the loft, and everyone’s excited to meet you."
"Will there be
